I've been using this receiver for a few weeks now and I have been very pleased with its performance in my living room. I use it as a switch for all of my entertainment needs. The component input upscaler to 720p/1080p works well with my original Xbox. It's really nice to only need to use one HDMI connection to my TV and have my receiver handle the switching between analog and digital inputs. Pros: -Digital Audio In/Out (I use optical out so I can drive my wireless Turtle Beach headphones) -Configurable/assignable inputs -4 HDMI inputs, 2 component inputs, and 3 composite inputs (1 front) -Analog input scaling up to 1080p -Support for Blu-Ray audio including: DTS Master Audio, Dolby Digital TrueHD, Dolby Digital Ex, Dolby Digital Plus -Backwards compatible with optical/coaxial Dolby Digital and DTS signals -Pre-amp out for use with external amplifier -Fits well in my entertainment center (not too bulky) Cons: -Aspect ratio seems to not be configurable from analog sources which causes a forced 16:9 ratio on older 4:3 sources Nice to haves: -4 HDMI inputs can be a bit limiting, but if you get some pigtail HDMI switchers, you can outfit up to 12 or 16 HDMI inputs on this receiver. I have one splitter currently for using with my Chromecast and PS Vita TVRead full review

The Pioneer VSX-21txh is a great receiver with more features than most people will ever need and if you get it at a good price all the more so. It puts out plenty of power 110watts RMS per each of its 7 channels. Also this number is most probably pretty spot on due to the fact that it is also THX certified. It works great with my set up. I have a Mitsubishi HC3800 projecting onto a 110" screen. I have a PS3 and a HTPC currently connected via HDMI running to the projector w/ no difficulties. There is occasional signal lag between the PS3, receiver, and projector but it is only momentary and really doesn't bother me. The picture is great with all media being played through the receiver. Overall I feel I ended up w/ a great piece of equipment that will last me years to come. As a note I did get a Square Trade warranty due to the fact that Pioneer will not honor there Elite warranty if not purchased from licensed reseller.Read full review
I recently got around to hooking up my surround sound home 🏡theater With the Klipsch subwoofers (2) firing downward it was like an earthquake for my neighbor below me. and I must say I'm so impressed that this'll probably be the last Audio receiver that I will buy. Highly recommend it

I use this receiver for home theatre use. Combined with my Emotiva XPA-5 makes my system sound like a movie theatre. It has all the new codecs. I use NHT classic three speakers with a SVS sub. All I can say is wow!!! I think I finally have the right sound and I am happy!!!
