This club is easy to hit off of the tee or the deck. The upgraded Mittsubishi shaft is a great set up for this head. The club is lighter and more compact than many 3 woods today. My distance went from about 230 to 250-260 with this club. Brings some par 5's back into reach. I'm about a 10 handicap and don't try to work the ball left or right very much. I purchased this club because I swing the Rapture V2 driver with the Blueboard shaft and I loved it from day one as well. Highly recommend the Rapture V2 series for golfers looking to improve their scores. PING has an outstanding customer service department and the quality is second to none. Very pleased with this club and the rest of the Rapture V2 family!
As an ageing golfer (57) that doesn^t have the swing speed he once did I think Ping has come up with a very user friendly product in the Rapture V2. I picked up the 23* hybrid to start with & loved it.Very easy to get the ball up & it goes where you aim it.Then I got ahold of the 12* driver. Both clubs great quality with super ease of use right out of the box.I^m a weekend golfer that does not have alot of time for the driveing range. The last piece to the puzzle was the 4 wood. With my swing speed I^ve always had trouble getting any loft off the fairway with a 15* 3 wood. With the V2,Ping has given us weekend warriors a 17.5* loft with a 3 wood shaft length. This wood has great versatility & like the other pieces to my personal puzzle has improved all aspects of my long game. As a golfer with a TRUE 18 handicap & been through more clubs than I care to mention, the V2 line from Ping is very much a quality product that is worth an honest look.By the way,I have never written any review on ANY other golf club & mostly because as a weekend warrior there has never been any line that I felt actualy stood out. So that is my humble opinion.Of course, you know what they say about opinions so check them out yourself.Being a LEFTY all us southpaws know how much more limited we are & often end up having to compromise on choice. This is not the case with the V2 line & as a LEFTY it has made the game I love,a real pleasure to play again.Read full review
The rapture v2 # 4 wood features a stock graphite shaft that is the same length as the 3 wood. Coupled with the 17* head, this combination produces a shot that will fly as far as most 3 woods on the market. Ping has a real winner here - the black club head is big but the black paint finish really hides the size well. This is an inspiring setup and the aiming logo is really nice. Pleasing to the eye and great performing.
If you tried the original Ping Rapture fairway woods and didn't like them you are not alone but don't let that keep you from trying the new V2 series. The two are completely different. The V2's are well balanced, have better shafts, more competent off differing lie conditions and a lower profile which simply screams confidence at set up. The Ping V2's do cost more than their competition but in this case the difference is justified. These are absolutely hands down the best fairway woods you can buy. Try one and see if you do not agree!
(HDCP 1) I play Ping equipment. I purchased the 16' Rapture V2 3W seeking to better cover the 230-255 yard shots; tee shots on shorter/tighter par 4s and higher and softer-landing second shots on par 5s. I previously carried the Rapture 14' 3W and the Rapture 17' 5W, but replaced the 5W and S57 3I with an 18' Rapture Hybrid to make room for a 60' Tour-W wedge. That created a gap between the 14' 3W and 18' hybrid. The 14' 3W was now too hot. It was worth 265 yards off the tee and I couldn't hit it high enough on par 5s to hold the green. The 16' Rapture V2 3W has been excellent. The head is the same size as the 17' 5W but has a lower profile. The trajectory is slightly lower than the 16' may suggest, but high enough to hold a green.
