Been swinging these sticks since I was 14 years old, and now I'm 29. I've owned a few other sets since then, but have always come back to these. Just too bad I had to lose the original pitching wedge. In my opinion, this was Karsten's last and greatest iron design before he left the company to his son. I'm not to fond of what his son has been putting out lately, but I'm sure many would disagree with me. I kind of wish I owned the Copper ones though, or maybe the Nickel. But these steel heads hit just as soft, there just not as heavy as the Cu or the Ni. If you do pick up a set of these vintage irons make sure you take care of them, because I don't think Ping will touch these anymore if you were to send them in for servicing (i.e, reshaft, reloft, etc.). The JZ shafts match these heads when it comes to overall playability of the club. So don't break it! They won't fix!Read full review
I have access to all the new golf goodies every year, with the exception of new Driver technology I haven't been able to find an iron that compares to the PING ISI models. At the beginning of each season I see the manufacturers doing whatever they can to re-invent iron making with silliness. They were the pinnacle of Ping golf's design, and it seems like they had perfected the art of iron making. I have played dozens of different irons over the years, but have found none to be of comparable quality. The irons are approximately 11 years old now, and there is still quite a market demand for them. So if you have a set of ISI's gathering dust in your attic, garage, car trunk, shed or wherever, post them on E-bay, I personally know four guys that would like to find entire sets. Ping is in my opinion one of the most revolutionary golf companys in all of the Golf World. I decided to buy a matching Ping Lob Wedge Black Dot ISI K for numerous reasons. I has a very large club face which makes it easier for beginners to hit consistently. It also is a very forgiving club for beginners. Over all the ISI K Series in my opinion is a great set of older golf clubs for those of us out there who can not afford a new set of G10's or G15's.
Every golfer should have a ping sand wedge. This is the most versatile, most forgiving club in my bag. Anywhere from 100 yards out is ground zero for this club. Getting into the beach and then getting out is so easy with this wedge I almost enjoy getting into sand traps. Great thing to keep in mind is to use the ping club guide so you can match your height/offset to the proper club length. I used my son's sand wedge for years and he finally goaded me into getting my own. Best advice he ever gave me!
I have a set of ping ISI irons that I love. However my sand wedge +2 was very worn out (I spend a lot of time in the sand). The set is custome fit and identified with a white dot (2-3 degree upright). Was thinking about buying a whole new set until I found this ISIK sand wedge +2 in ebay. Was able to buy it at a very good price vs buying a whole new set of irons. It is working out great and I am stopping or backing up the ball again.
