Features Actors: Seth Rogan, James Franco,Gary Cole,Rosie Perez, Amber Heard & Danny McBride. Rating: Theatrical- 112 Min. / Extended Version - 117 Min. Rating:R Dale Denton, a jaded process server and master of process server disguises, who's involved with a high schooler Angie (Amber Heard) in a borderline statutory romance, while in a more obsessive pursuit of the ultimate high.Denton believes he's found his proverbial dream bag of weed when goofy local pot peddler Saul (James Franco) offers him a bid on his unique exclusive quality stash of Pineapple Express.Saul whose connections to the underworld of illegal drugs inadvertently make them witnesses to murder. It's the classic tale of marijuana dealer meets boy, boy meets marijuana dealer and over the river and through the woods into a drug dealer's hideout with guns they go. Saul & Dale's Trip leads them to form a friendship, moreover a pact to stick together as they find ways to escape Ted Jones (Gary Cole), a notoriously violent drug lord who's out for their blood. With Ted hot on their heels, eager to cover up his murderous tracks, Dale and Saul perpetually find themselves on the run. The result is a series of paranoia-induced mishaps wherein they get stoned in the wilderness, abandon their car, capture and duck-tape one of Ted's rats (Danny McBride), get arrested at an elementary school playground, steal a police car and shoot-up an illegal storage facility housing thousands of grams of their favorite substance. While the action rarely stops and the comedic moments in between run from from slap-stick to just plain silly, the film's metaphor for drug use is apparent: while crazy things happen to Dale and Saul, in the end, nothing really happens and they remain as directionless as they were from the start, except for the bruises and criminal records they acquire. Pineapple Express, one of Apatow's hilarious works, is a great film that melds action, comedy, and a shocking twist of ethics. While Apatow's films loosely resolve with a "moral of the story" kind of tone, this flick involves the dangers of smoking weed and the need for sobriety in order to save one's life. In the special features actor Seth Rogan expressed his disdain for anti-drug preaching works, but decided to rethink the project when given the opportunity to "make it right." Working closely with Apatow, this film will keep you laughing from the start and maybe a case of the munchies. The movie is worth every penny. A must-see film.
Judd Apatow hit the jackpot with Pineapple Express. The latest movies he produced where funny but it seems that they were all the same but this one was completely different. It has lots of funny moments and situations, the jokes were great although they turn to be kinda repetitive as the movie moves along. It is full of action and adventure. The story is original, the plot is interesting and very well developed. Loved the soundtrack, the music was great. It has a very fast paced rhythm, a very good thing because the movie never turns to be tiresome to the viewer. The cast is very good, Seth Rogen was excellent with a very funny performance, James Franco was hilarious in a role completely different from what he done before, Danny McBride was a real surprise as Red and the supporting roles from Rosie Perez, Gary Cole, Kevin Corrigan and Craig Robinson were very convincing. In conclusion, Pineapple Express is a movie which only purpose is to entertain. So if you are in the mood of a simple comedy, sit down, turn your brain off, relax and enjoy.Read full review

Any film that takes place in less than 2 days is a good, tight film. Seth Rogan is good, but James Franco steals the show as Saul...Danny McBride is good too. A ridiculous plot line, but the writers and actors pull it off well. A little too violent toweard the end, but still worth watching. I highly recommend it. I'm a 39 year old man, and when I took my 13 and 14 year old sons to see it, I came off like a rock star.
