Pretty good holiday baking guide
I bought this book because I loved the large pictures and the wonderful decorating ideas. I was little displeased after taking time to look through all of the recipes, however, as a lot of them want you to use store-bought cookie dough, crescent rolls, etc. I prefer making my goodies from scratch and don't like all of the busy-mom shortcuts, but for people who have small children or are in a time crunch, this book would be very good for them. All the same, the decorating ideas are great, and the variety of the recipes is good. I certainly enjoy using it and learning from it.I bought this book because I loved the large pictures and the wonderful decorating ideas. I'm writing this in late Sept. and I still feel the holidays are far away, but in reality they aren't! I like to pick up a new holiday cook book each year and Pillsbury is a name that can be trusted and ...well, the cover did look so yummy! It's not all sweet nibbles, but savory nibbles too! They have a section on the best foods to wrap and send to loved ones far away. Many holidays are included from Halloween, Thanksgiving, through Christmas, Hanukkah. Kwanzaa and the New Year. Lots of perfect cocktail hour foods like the Mini Chicken Caesar Cups and Savory Crab Cheesecake to the desserts which range from the Frankenstein Cake for Halloween to Banana Eggnog Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce and Chocolate Silk Raspberry Tart. Fun Holiday Recipes
There's a lot of yummy ideas, especially if you're looking for something easy to make at home. You can also play with a lot of the ideas they give you and make them more homemade (i.e. Use your own dough recipe rather than buying pre-made Pilsbury dough)
