This book is very solid and uses a wide range of equipment -- often gives alternate experiments to accomplish the same objective depending on the equipment your school may have. Our school has very little recent equipment but I have been able to find plenty of labs we can use. I use the 5th edition to save my students money; generally they can buy it at half.com for under $25 instead of the $109 for the newest edition. It is paper-back and has tear-out pages for them to turn in -- used books may be missing pages. The experiments are well written and encapsulated, that is the whole lesson is there without reference to a textbook. Each experiment has an advance study assignment that the student should fill out before coming to lab -- this ensures that they have read the description and are ready to work then they arrive. There are far more labs than you can use in a 2 semester course. I am using Serway & Faugan's College Physics 6th ed as the text and the correlation is quite good. (I'm sure it would be better if I used Wilson's text.) I used the 4th ed last year and the differences are minimal but enough that you would want all students to have the same edition (some labs added, some deleted, lab numbers don't match).Read full review
