For someone new to using programs other than word processors and emails, this book gives instruction in as dumb-downed way as possible. It does, however, assume the reader knows the common vocabulary of computer users, which may give some folks new to the experience some pause. It starts at the first screen of Photoshop describing the bar at the top and the function of all the headings. After that it assumes you will use the index or the table of contents to find what you need.

I bought this as I needed some info on the capabilities and operation of CS2. I found it very complicated and not at all easy to follow. I have since bought Photoshop CS2 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies. It seems much easier to gain some insite into the program with this book. I needed a book for primary level learning and this fits the bill. The Peter Bauer book is more a college level text.
If you need to learn Photoshop CS2 in a short period of time and you are not a graphis expert, this is a good way to go. The Text is easy to understand and no there are no preconcevied expectations of prior knowledge. Also serves a a good ongoing reference aid.
I THINK ALL THE "FOR DUMMIES" BOOKS ARE PRETTY WELL DONE. THEY USE HUMOR TO HOLD YOUR ATTENTION. THIS BOOK IS ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR BEGINNERS I THINK. I'VE BEEN DOING THIS AWHILE
It was returned!
