I bought this book for a Black and White Photography class .... if I bought this book at the campus book store (new edition) it would have been like 100 bucks or some crazy thing like that ... the instructor even said to go on line ad find an older edition because photography has not really changed that much in the last 20 years ..... ( this is film not digital) ............ I got this book for like $6.00 !! ..... I compared it to a class mates and its really about the same book ... cover is different ... organization is slightly different ..... but its basically the same darn book .... my ADVICE ... find a used one on line and save yourself 90+ dollars !!

This book is the classic photography book for college courses. It is easy to read and has been updated with more digital photo info. I was actually looking for darkroom photo information..it has step by step procedures with photos of the equipment and procedures.. excellent!

If I could only have one photography book, this is it. Content is dense and complete.

I purchased this book for my photography class and thankfully I found it for a great deal! I not only saved money but the book was in perfect condition. The text is easy to follow, the images are in color, and it offers a full range of styles to interest novice or professional photographers.
Good book for beginning photography class. I liked it for my intro to black and white photography. It gives detail on each of the parts of the camera while stilling breaking things down into simpler terms. Good book to start learning about photography and how to begin developing film.
