I love the way the product doesn't feel like it is sitting on top of my skin. It absorbs quickly and my skin feels so natural. I like the silky feel of the product. I bought it because it was a featured product of Oprah's favorite things. Oprah claimed it was a great moisturizer and since it was affordable to me I thought I'd give it try. I also read reviews of other users online. I didn't like the scent at first. It took a short while for me to get used to it. I like the product but I don't think it is worth the hefty price. I expected a little more because the product was pitched by Oprah.
I have dry dry skin on my face and this is perfect for me! I tried the regular "Renewed Hope in a Jar" (not for dry skin) and noticed my skin was immediately quenched, but would some dry problem areas would surface during the day. That's when I decided to try the more intensive "Renewed Hope in a Jar DRY" and will not go back to any other face cream! It is light yet penetrates to get rid of my flaky skin! The smell alone is amazing, like a very light green tea/pear blossom mix. If you have dry skin like me, then you will LOVE this product!!

Lucky for me I only puchased a small sample sized jar of this product. I know some things work great for some and not-so-great for others. As soon as I opened the jar I was overwhelmed with a very unpleasant aroma...ok, smell. It did NOT appeal to me. After applying it, I had to wash my hands to get rid of the smell. Not sure if is the lavender or what, but ugh! I also noticed a slight break-out after a few days of using it. Could be from the "parabens" that I was very disappointed to see in Philosphy product? Returned to my old faithful BE moisturizer and break-out went away. I did not get a positive immediate result with Hope In A Jar (like I did with Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Face Wash...love it!). This stuff smells like cheap bandaids. I hate it. But it works like NOTHING I've ever used. I get excema, I get rough patches that peel... my skin is a mess. But Hope in a Jar makes my skin feel normal again. After years of trying everything from the grocery-store brands to the cosmetic counters, I finally found a winner.
I love this product and have tried many other moisturizers esp as I struggled with dryness due to menopause. It has made my skin feel like skin again, brightened it, evened out skin tone and made it unbelievably soft. I do not find the smell offensive although it is not perfume scented like many. I had never used it before so found the texture odd at first(kind of like tofu) but a little goes a long way. I highly recommend this product. I even want my husband to try it!
