I wasn't sure buying a refurbished product would be a good idea, but we decided to try it as purchasing new is very pricey. It was easy to set up and for the few days the product has been used it is excellent; no noises in the motor and the timer for taping is working perfectly. The two older remotes we had on hand were not working well - the remote that came with this VCR is excellent. The VCR looks brand new - an added bonus. We are very pleased! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because we have not had the product long enough.

Unit came with out a manual. I purchased a new unused remote and downloaded a manual from the Web. I tried to connect this unit up to a 2015 55" GL TV. I tried ever type of connection instruction that can be used. VHS will not display. DVD worked but the picture was poor.

To be honest, I'm afraid of jinxing myself, but I must admit, this device is exactly what I needed. I does everything it's supposed to do, and does it as if it was brand new! It plays both VHS tapes, and DVD's. It's timer recording also works perfectly. I was afraid, with out a manual, it might be difficult to learn. But it was easy to set up and figure out.
