This is an older model and well built. It has 20 programs and is a 2, 3, 4 and 5 thread serger, has 3 cover stitch programs, chainstitch, 2 and 3 thread flatlock, does an excellent rolled hem, and has two safety stitches using 4 and 5 threads wth up to 1500 stitches/min. Threading is a bit of a learning curve and you must thread in precise order but once you are used to it, it's a breeze. It has a differential feed, adjustable sewing speed and adjustable foot pressure. You can use 1, 2 or 3 needles. The upper blade can be disengaged and there is a swivel stitch latch that can be disengaged for narrower hems and seams. Seams can be set between 1.4 and 9.0 mm wide, cover stitch width 2.5 mm and 5 mm. Stitch length can be from 0.5 to 4.0 mm Programs have automatic tension settings that can be adjusted as needed for various fabrics and it has on-screen settings for suggested settings including swivel stitch latch, upper looper, upper blade position seam width and presser foot. It will serge with a variety of threads including metallic and wooly nylon in the loopers. The manual is available online if the unit does not have one; you will need the manual. One disadvantage - this serger was sold in the late 90's, early 2000's and optional feet and special serging accessories are very difficult to find if at all, however a sewing machine can accomplish the things the optional serger accessories are made for just fine.Read full review

It's easier to thread them most machines I have used. The instruction book is not user friendly. Getting parts for the machine is prove to be difficult. Pfaff is not producing parts for the older machine at this time.

So far, ver good. I haven't had much time to use it; but what I've done works well. This machine does so much more than my old serger. I need to find the time to really sit down with it and learn about all of it's features. I'm definitely impressed. Glad I bought it. I think it would get a 5 if I figured out more of the options.
