The biggest problem that I find with the factory 7 round magazines is that it does not allow for a firm grip on the weapon, and these extensions are the perfect solution. I have added them to both my 7 and 8 round magazines and am extremely pleased with the added comfort and control that they lend to my shield. They are extremely well made, easy to install and look like OEM components, not add-ons. They do not adversely affect concealed carry but instead will aid in positive control during your draw while using either magazine. I have average sized hands so I couldn't imagine how someone with lager hands could safely use their 7 round mags without them. In my opinion Smith & Wesson should have Incorporated these Pearce grip extensions straight from the factory. A very small price to pay to increase the safety, comfort and shoot-ability of either the 9mm or 40 cal. Shield.Read full review

The extension looks good, no denial about that, it also feels fine. The problem though is the holding plate hole in the middle is a bit too wide which doesn't hold firmly this pinkie extension in place. It is a bit loose. I compared the mount hole of the extension plate with my original M&P Shield plate, The original is a bit smaller, more narrow, this is why the original plate holds firmly in place. I had to use some glue to fill the "gap", so it stays in place...

I've owned my Shield for years and put hundreds of rounds through it, and the instant I put these on the mags it was easily twice as comfortable, so much so that I'm genuinely surprised that S&W didn't make this a factory feature. The improvement of ergonomics would be worth the increased cost of production, it makes that much difference. I'm honestly a little frustrated with myself for not seeking out a product like this much sooner. I haven't shot with them on yet, but I get the strong impression that these will help manage recoil and improve reset time onto the target. I think this because my pinky finger now has positive engagement with the grip of the weapon at the base, which should improve my ability to further control upward movement. This is particularly useful for me, since my Shield is chambered in. 40cal and can be a bit jumpy in a small poly frame like this, especially with self-defense loads. For size reference, my palm is 4.25" wide and I wear size XL gloves and these make the grip fit my whole hand. As for the product itself, it seems to be made of the same poly as the Shield frame, fit & finish is on point, and installation was super quick and easy. I highly recommend this product, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.Read full review

These replacement base plates for the S&W Shield magazines are easy to install and really make a difference in the grip. I have smaller hands and only needed them on the shorter concealment magazines, but a friend of mine, who put me on to them, has bigger hands and added them to the longer magazines as well. The only down side to them is that it makes it a little tougher to seat the magazine in the pistol if you are in the habit of slapping the bottom. Another reason I didn't get these for the longer magazines. I can take my time with the short magazine and use the longer ones for reloads. They fit fine on both the 9mm and .40 S&W magazines.

Installs easily. Definitely makes a difference and is just enough to get full purchase on. Doesn't make it print anymore than before, and no noticeable weight gain. I do feel like it slides a little bit when loading the magazine, but all I do is get a good grip (squeeze tight) or with my other hand, push the extension backwards to the end of he grip.
