Wonderful book containing two stories by Patrick D. Smith about Florida as seen and experienced by the Seminole indians. Two very entertaining and awe inspiring tales written in an easy to read style by Mr. Smith who lived on the Treasure Coast for many years. His books almost literally places you in the everglades in a chickee. A page turner, as are his other books. Highly recommended for all ages.

It is a rather lengthy book so it is not a one-sitting read. However, it is a book you do not want to put down so it is a must read. The author is an outstanding writer ... I have read a few of his books.

Few people know of the Allapattah Flats - the area to the North of big Lake Okeechobee, in South Florida. This area spawned a special breed of people, rugged individualists the like of which aren't commonly seen in the U.S. anymore. Genuine cowboys, too - more per mile than Texas or Montana. Plentiful wildlife - Alligators, 'possums, Armadillos, wild Turkey, Ibis, Spoonbill, and the incredible Sandhill Cranes that stand 5 feet tall and echo their timeless calls over the land every evening on their way to roost. Mr. Smith does this land and it's people justice.
