I've had a Norelco 1160 for the last 8 years switching blades annually. I enjoyed it but it's life ran out. After reading reviews, and because of its bargin price, I decided to give this Panasonic a try. Boy did I make a great choice. This shaves closer than the Norelco ever did. Important to note; Ive recently learned, per various articles anyway, that if you if you shave with an electric everyday, foil shavers shave closer than 3 head shavers like my Norelco. I wish I new that 8 years ago. I have nothing bad to say about Norelco, but this Panasonic does a much better job at giving a close "blade like" shave. The Panasonic wasn't inexpensive when it first came out, but know can be found for half the price of replacement blades for the Norelco. My beard is normal, not to thick & not to thin. The Panasonic is my new go to shaver. I only hope it lasts.....Read full review

I think that electric shavers are a big personal preference with many factors to consider such as skin texture, hair texture, etc. I have curly fine hair with an average to heavy beard density. This shaver is quite competent and seems to be nicely featured. The battery life is not great out of the box but that would probably get better with a few charges since it's Li-Ion. What I don't get is the raving about the closeness of the shave and the lack of irritation. This shaver is clearly not a champ at getting an even result, especially if you have long beard hairs from not shaving for a few days. You have to go over spots repeatedly which causes irritation to my skin. I'm a newbie to electric shavers and I'd started with an old Norelco I bought years ago for my daughter who got conscious about her leg hairs at a young age, before I was comfortable with her using a razor. It seems that the old Norelco gives a more predictable result for me with less irritation. I expected more out of the Panasonic than I received. I'll be retiring this ES8103S to back up shaver and getting new blades for the old Norelco.Read full review

This isn't my first Arc3 Shaver by Panasonic... I bought my first about 8 years ago. I shave everyday. I cared for it, cleaned it, bought replacement blades every other year... the darn thing shaved smooth and never gave me any trouble. I was looking to replace the batteries and buy new blades when I saw I could buy a new one at a great price. That's a no-brainer! These shavers are good! So why pay two to three times as much for another brand!

Good shaver when used wet just avoid drying with head pointed up since water will eventually seep into handle. I use plastic cups to stand razor upside down while drying. Note shave is loud enough to be heard outside bathroom. Use with shaving soap ease load on cutters giving longer battery life.

My Norelco electric razor had ceased to shave closely. I usually use an electric razor followed by a hand-held razor toget a very close shave. This model of the Panasonic wet/dry razor has been amazing! Shaves so close, I really don't need a razor shave afterwards, but I do out of habit. This product was well worth the money, and I'm so glad I ordered it. I'd recommend it to anyone!
