This is a great little phone system. So good, in fact, that every time a handset bites the dust, I search for a replacement on Ebay. It has lots of great features: call forwarding, easy greeting recording, caller ID, etc. Besides that, the manual is well-written so you don't have to be a rocket scientist to make adjustments or use the features. It also has really good range, so I can take a handset out in the yard and use it, even though I'm nowhere near the base. Best of all, I know how to use it, because we've had it so long. Sometimes I don't like this phone because it's cordless and I lose handsets all over the house. But I guess that's MY problem, not the phone's. Unfortunately, this model is old enough (may 10 years or something?) that it's getting more and more difficult to get replacement parts. And that's too bad.Read full review
I had experience with this same unit that died after experiencing one too many power surges. When I discovered I could replace the unit with one purchased on e-bay, I was really pleased. When I received the unit, I immediately plugged the base and remote into the electrical outlet to charge the batteries. The next day, I hooked the system up to the phone and discovered that when I answered the phone on the remote unit, the system hung up and the call was dropped. So I was unable to use the remote unit other than to see and hear that there was an incoming call. Then with the base unit, if I tried to transfer to speaker phone, the call would be dropped, though if I answered in speaker mode all was OK. I spent another $30.00 to consult a technician to discover that these were symptoms of faulty batteries. I ordered new batteries and when they arrived two weeks later, I charged them up and the problems disappeared. I was really surprised as the system showed that the batteries that came with the unit were fully charged. In the end, what little savings I got by buying on e-bay were eaten up by the cost of the tech who identified the problem and the cost of the new batteries. Ultimately, the product has all the features I wanted, the learning curve to put the unit to use was non-existent. BUT... This was my first experience with e-bay and it will be my last. It was too costly and far too frustrating.Read full review
Reasons I bought this model Reasonable price, compact size, conservative styling, Panasonic brand, 5.8GHz technology My Opinion after I used it I have owned it for a few months now and so far I do not regret the purchase. I bought 2 sets of these KX-TG5633W (1base+2ext) and KX-TG5632M (1base+1ext) because I need like 6 phones between my household and office. I am using 1 base and 3 ext for the household; the other base I use at the office. I found that this model is quite easy to install and use. The features are very adequate. The menu system is very capable. It comes with a monochrome LCD. I like the phone book feature, including ease of data entry and editing. Also the ability to copy entries to other hand sets is really great. You can even download ring tones but I don't use that feature. It has limited expandability per base; only a total of 3 extensions can be registered per base. If you need more than 4 phones in the house you need to set up more bases. With each base you can add 4 phones. Battery life is acceptable. Voice quality is clear but a little tinny, with or without the VoiceEnhance feature. Speaker phone voice quality is good. Extension handsets can be moved from base to base, just by registering it to the desired base, depending on your need. I thought that was quite important to me.Read full review
I have had this model of cordless phone since I was a teenager. After 25 years of flawless operation, my handset packed it in. I was so excited to find the same model on ebay! Easy to set up, incredible audio and looking forward to many more years of enjoying my Panasonic cordless phone!
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This phone system is quite amazing with more features than we will ever use. What we do like is the ability to silence the handset as well as the base unit if we want quiet. Extra handset does not require a phone jack, only a plug in the wall for the charging base. Each hand set can be set to a different ringer COLOR on the antenna blinker– which helps to identify where it belongs – besides that, there is a number 1 or 2 on each phone's display. Once you have created a phone book you can easily copy it to the second handset. We found that adding additional new hand set(s) to our original same model phone was much more costly than buying another double handset unit and turning OFF the new answering machine. We don’t have caller ID, but it's available. If you have caller ID, you can specify ring tones for different callers as well as blinker colors on the handset. The answering machine itself is easy to operate and we’ve kept the very pleasant default message. This model is no long available new, only the additional high priced hand sets, so shop like we did on eBay. Overall this phone is a real winner with absolutely no negatives.Read full review
