Book was listed as very good, and is almost like new. Only a few indentations and scuff marks on front and back covers, all inside pages are pristine. I recommend this as a great book for beginners, and recommend all of Cathy Johnson's books. She does not however go into color theory or color mixing in this book, but instead provides a very good 'absolute' beginners guide to getting started in watercolors, with a light and fun approach. Very nice illustrations of topics covered, Several step-by-step demos at the end of the book.

I would like to learn watercolor painting, and I've read a few books that were a little too advanced. This one gives great instruction on the true basics...not just paper, but also the names and differences in brushes, how to mix colors, etc. I think it's really the best "beginner" book I've seen, and trust me, I have looked at quite a few!
One of the best beginning watercolor books I’ve seen. Great value
