Painted lady with Helen Mirren is a drama/mystery which clearly reveals Mirren as a truly talented actress. She begins as a former 60's rock singer living on a crumbling estate...but when her friend Sir Charles Strafford is killed in a botched robbery and a prized painting is missing she begins in earnest to find the killer and the painting. She poses as a Polish Countess interested in valuable pieces of art. Her portrayal is quite convincing and takes her into the murky underworld of the art trade. The twists and turns throughout the story leave no question that Helen Mirren is a brilliant and complex persona. Definitely a "masterpiece" in many ways.
It is a great film, one of Helen Mirren's best. I have watched it many times in the past and will send this CD to a friend. Thank you!

I love Helen Mirren but was disappointed in this movie. It starts off slow and eventually it becomes entertaining. Then just when you are finding it entertaining it ends with a thud. I did not like the ending. The art was probably displayed accurately although I am sure more tamely then reality. If you like Helen you will like this movie. But I did not enjoy it.
