Baseball will always be the great American pastime. For a sports film there might be better ones out there [past]. But I really enjoyed this film. Satisfying solid entertainment. I found the approach appealing and a story that needed to be told. Pitt is excellent, as well as the supporting cast. Funny, charming, touching and blunt if not brutal. All the things you love about baseball. See it. Here's to baseball, I love it. Blessings, Max Rainet. **If you found this information at all helpful, please take a moment to select the "yes" button below. given that i don't like baseball and the only 2 baseball-related movies i saw (field of dreams, a league of their own) bored me to tears, i was surprised at how much i liked this film. the premise of viewing undervalued baseball players and how to classify them (sabermetrics) was new to me, and the human drama was very interesting. despite the fact that brad pitt's wig was distracting, and the parts about his ex-wife and child (put in to make him more likable, i guess) were superfluous, i really cared about billy beane and the oakland a's after this movie. in fact, i checked out the moneyball book because of this movie because i wanted to know more about this situation. highly recommend to anyone, just for the sheer entertainment value based on a real events, as well as thought-provoking views on how baseball (or anything else that can be measured) is run.Read full review
A true story about how the game is planned and managed behind the scenes in the high-tech baseball front office. Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill seem perfectly cast in their rolls, and the film holds your attention from beginning to end. This is one of my favorite movies that I've already watched few times, and probably will watch again often. This is a great movie, offered at a good price, from a no-problems seller.

Great movie well worth two hours. Brad Pitt is sharp as Billy Beane, although different than the book's picture. The movie glosses over the statistical ananlysis found in the book, but mixes in enough to give the flavor of the A's experiment. The smaller scenes are very real, especially the scenes with aging or marginal players struggling to hang on. Sometimes the dramatic clash between old school baseball guys and new school analysis guys is (almost comically) overdone, but it still works. It is not a traditional baseball movie: it takes the front office perspective which makes it harder to identify with the players.
Great inside story of baseball. Smooth, flowing, exciting pace with excellent, likeable actors/characters. Would not have bought the DVD if we didn't enjoy it so much that we want to be able to watch it anytime.
