Returning to golf after 20 years, I want a good putter. I didn't want to pay $350 for a Scotty Cameron yet, because I don't know enough to make a good decision now. I purchased four used $30-$60 PING putters on eBay and new $55-$90 Oddyssey, PING, and Wilson/Staff putters. I've used them quite a bit on the family room carpet, (It's Winter in Northern Michigan.) and for me the PING Zing 2 putter is a very good putter. It has many of the design features, materials, and characteristics of much more expensive putters. It is not the best for me, with my current putting style, but I'll keep the PING Zing 2, in case I learn a better putting stroke for which this putter works best. I'm sure it's a 10 on the 10-point scale for many golfers.
The refinished head was nice but I could not see in the pictures given that the flared tip shaft had many small dents where it attached to the putter head. The putter grip was slightly twisted at the top of the club. When I cut the grip off, I realized why the grip was twisted. The top of the metal shaft under the grip was broke, almost like it had been bent in half until it broke, not cut off evenly. I had to repace the shaft and the grip. I still like the refinished Ping Zing 2 putter head, I just had to make it presentable and playable. It looks great and has a smooth feel. RH

What can you say about the "PING Zing 2" .. Simple, straightforward, sophisticated ... Timeless classic. The first PING putter I really liked enough to buy. ... Exact same putter I use today ..... Right after Nick Faldo won his last Masters, I (like a million other hackers) started using the Odyssey Rossi2® ...... A couple of years went by and then I switched back to my old PING Zing 2 .... That was 15 years ago... 2 years ago I finally broke down and purchased a replacement grip from Ping. Then I had the Pro at Lyons MGC slip that original PING grip on my putter, it was like it was brand new .... all over again. That putter is tuff .. I remember paying like $55.00+ Tax .... at Golfsmith in North Austin ... That same putter today is substantially more expensive X 2 .... The vintage Ping Zing 2 Stainless Steal ah ... uh.... Its a magic.. wand ....Read full review
As a retired PGA golf professional, I use this putter with great success. As my skills dim, the quality of Ping golf equipment carries on. I am 66 and continue to know that Ping is one of the best club manufacturers on the market.
