This album, released in 1994, was a crossover hit - at least for the contemporary version of the 60's hit WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM. I heard it over and over on a co-workers patio speakers on warm summers' nights but never could quite catch the name of the female vocalist as it played in heavy rotation on a contemporary rock (I thought) radio station. Thus began a long search for a copy of the song that had bouyed me up during a real low period; a song that I had loved during my teenage years of British Invasion Music. Along the way of this search I learned that the song was composed by the great pop writer Jackie DeShannon. Even saw a video of Jackie DeShannon singing her bubbly song on a contemporary 60's TV show - hunhhhhh??, finding that originally the song was written from a women's point of view. [Not from that Other Quartet of Liverpool Lads' viewpoint. I had always imagined it was a Searcher's original.] Finally found the 'pot of gold' when I discovered the CD SWEETHEART'S DANCE - the version of "When You Walk In the Room" heard so long ago - but I got so much more when I heard the whole album!! I latched on immediately to "Mi Vida Loca" [bless you Cathy825 - wish I could have had the impact of your review using a 10th of the words herein]. A song that warns men not to think about being condescending to a LADY who wears boots with denim skirts and buys her own truck with a CD player in it!!! Also find great enjoyment in repeated listenings to "I Was Blown Away", "They Don't Break 'Em Like They Used To" and "'Til All The Lonely's Gone" - this from a guy who traditionally always listened to Memphis rather than Nashville music. Great Production Value is a hallmark of this recording. It was Duke Ellington who remarked, "there is good music.....and then there is all the rest." This album is firmly planted in the Good Music category!! It's spicey hot and heartbreakingly cool, seasoned players led by a woman who's not afraid to lead without cutting off the collegiate drive of a common project. Mz Tillis has found a dedicated fan-atic since I found this album! Recommended without hesitation.Read full review
