One review rated the Forte II an overall rating of 2. How can the same product receive a 5 & 2 rating? It is called synergy. The reviewers amplifier was not suitable for the speaker. The Klipsch will present very realistic sound and also reproduce the source. Poor source = poor sonics. The better solid state (transistor) amplifiers are NAD such as the 326BEE, vintage Philips amps such as the 578, any Harmon Kardon 'twin power' or Rotel vintage amps. As Paul Klipsch stated what this country needs is a good 5 watt amplifier. Paul klipsch is in the Music Hall of Fame & Enginering & Science Hall of Fame. I think I'll go with Paul Klipsch.
I own a pair of Forte II since 1990, bought brand new. Classic, lifelike sound, well made piece of furniture, sound will allow you to hear guitar player's fingers slide accross strings on a folk song. To a classical piece you'll hear the cow bells along with the violens. Recently hooked up to a new 2011 Emotiva UMC-1 Processor, able to play HDMI, Cable TV, and Blu-Ray through speakers sound is incredible. In process of upgrading my crossovers as they are over twenty years old. Expect to gain an even warmer sound, 11/2011 new crossovers, Titanium Tweeters and Titanium Mids. Can purchase directly from Klipsch or Bob Crities who provides a more robust crossover than originallyy delivered back in 1990. These speakers are irreplaceable, have compared to $15,000 speakers, no comparrison. Paul Klipsch was a gensuis, and ahead of his time.Read full review
My brother had the Forte I's; they sounded nice for the brief time I listened to them. So, I got the Forte II's. I liked the bass quality, but the midrange was shrill and gave me an earache. The Klipsch Synergy series speakers have a weaker midrange output, but are much easier on the ears. Also, bear in mind that these speakers were last made in 1996, and the original components are no longer available from vendors or Klipsch, only substitutes. This includes crossover networks, speaker drivers, and even engineering plans for the MDF cabinets, in case of woodwork damage.
Incredible soundstage and range for the money. Great bass due to the 15" passive radiator in the back. The mid horn gives incredible presence to vocals.
