I love this cd. The movie/soundtrack came out in 1992 and the tracks are excellent. Starts of with Iggy Pop, a real fun tune that lusts for life. My favorite track is by Born Slippy. Found the same track on itunes and it wasn't the full version. The full version has some very intricate dance rhythms and keyboard sensations. Just a really good soundtrack that was put together with thought and the "underground" vibe. Awesome tracks, awesome buy.
This is an absolutely incredible soundtrack to the dark and somewhat disturbing 1996 movie -Trainspotting movie!! This soundtrack contains music that was an integral part of the film and helped give some scenes their depth! Directed by Danny Boyle - famous for other off beat offerings such as 28 Days Later and Shallow Grave - and written by Irvine Welsh - this move is a harrowing and narrated look at the lives of those embroiled in the Drug Scene in Scotland. The soundtrack fits the movie perfectly with 14 tracks - some original for the movie, others existing and well known, primarily by British Artists. Begining with the upbeat and somewhat contradictory - Lust for Life by Iggy Pop, we hear Primal Screams' Trainspotting with a somewhat different sound for them - an ambient, music only track with lots of synthesizer sound! Sleeper, a known band from the UK club circuit deliver a great cover in Blondie's Atomic and Temptation is a stellar track from Manchester's New Order. Iggy Pop makes another appearance on this with the superb Nightclubbing which works oh so well in this film! Blur appear once with frontman Damon Albarn also appearing a second time with a solo track, and Brit band Pulp lend a darkly comical track in Mile End! There is also the work of ambient electronic acts - Bedrock, Leftfield and Underworld with Born Slippy - the latter became a huge hit in the UK and essentially the piece of music most identified with this movie! The is a great soundtrack which earns a place in my collection for the unique and cool music it contains!!! One of the best movie soundtracks I own!Read full review
I think anyone that gets a hold of this album is in for a good suprise. The entire CD is loaded with pop rock star artists that experiement with new sounds and lyrics... also it features old classics by ELastica and New Order. The best part it has heavy so& new order And also features new music by iggy pop. You will want to hear these tracks again and again. All in all the sound carries an old vintage yet new wave classic sound to it ! ! !
This is one of my favorite compilations from any movie. I remember seeing the movie in 1996 at the Karlovy Vari Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The theatre was packed, people were sitting in the aisles smoking. It became an instant classic for me. Stand outs, the ever never-changing classy Iggy Pop with the opening track, "Lust For Life" and throbbing, "Nightclubbing," Lou Reed's "Perfect Day", Brian Eno's 'Deep Blue Day" and the contribution from Blur, "Sing". Buy it, Listen to it and enjoy. If you haven't yet seen the movie, do.
Soundtrack to Trainspotting-Drugs are bad mmmkay. Very dark and amusing dittys about what a druggies life would be like. I particularly liked the eclectic choices of tracks that brought the listener high and low and to places no one would like to go. Reccommended.
