The Order of the Arrow Handbook is the main manual for Order of the Arrow (OA) members. The book discusses what the OA is about, its role in Scouting, and the Native American traditions about which the OA is based. The OA is the honor camper society of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). There have been many editions, revisions, printings of this manual. The 1990 version is a revision of the 1989 copyright edition. 1990 was a special year for the Order, since it was their 75th anniversary. A National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) was held that year. The 1990 version was preceded by the 1989 copyright, 1989 printing (framed art picture on cover, BSA catalog #5000B). The 1990 version succeeded by the 1989 copyright, 1991 printing (same art picture as 1989-1989, but takes up the full cover without a frame, BSA catalog #5000). Various printings (with several different covers) of the 1989 copyright exist. New copyrighted editions came out in 2002 & 2004. While members should rely on the most current manual for information, any collector of OA manuals would not have a complete library without the various editions of the OA handbook.Read full review
