When an aquaintance reccommended this book to me, I thought, 'This could go either way,' It could be just an opinion, meaning 'she' (my aquiantance) thought the book was good, but not so- Or, 'she' (my aquaintance) has a keen mind and knows what she's talking about. I am pleased to write that my aquiantance is 'right on the money!' with her reccommendation of this novel, 'One For The Money,' by, Janet Evanovich- I like the way she (the author) thinks; The movements of her analogies/similies/metaphor, are direct and creative at the same time; She paints a picture with her words and motions the reader to come along with her as she fashions the object - and there is no mis-interpretaion about what she is meaning to say. Read this book...'meadowlarksingshersong' I recommend it-
I bought this lot of books by Janet Evanovich because she is a fantastic author, with a fiesty and likable heronie. Her plots are amazing, they twist and turn to such an extent, that even the most seasoned reader of detective novels would not be able to guess the outcome. For anybody who wants to take to bed with them a good book, or wants to pass a rainy afternoon, I would recommend these books. They lift the spirits, and the reader can identify with the various problems of Stephanie Plum, whilst admiring her independence and spirit. The only problem I have with these books, is that the author does not write the fast enough.
Even though I read "Eleven on Top" first and fell in love with the series, "One For the Money" is where it all begins. Stephanie Plum, an ordinary Jersey-girlie-girl, has been fired. Again. And she is down to her last dime. In desperation, she blackmails her cousin, Vinnie, a nasty sleazeball bail bondsman, into giving her a chance to earn $10,000.00 for apprehending a murder suspect. Clueless about guns, the law, and bail-bond jumpers, she hilariously bumbles her way to Joe Morelli, the suspect rogue cop, who taught her to play "choo-choo" (at the age of 6) which consists of a train (Joe) and a tunnel (Steph), and sweet-talked her out of her virginity in her teens. This book is so fast-paced, action-packed, and cute, and the characters and plot mesh magically, as Ms. Evanovich takes you places you've only heard of and imagined. I heartily recommend this series!Read full review
I first got into the Janet Evanovich books from a friend of mine. She had already read almost all of her books. I wanted a good book that would keep me interested and wanting more. She told me about Janet Evanovich. I went and bought this book and couldn't put it down. I was never very good at reading and finishing a book. I could never find anything that I really liked. When I bought this book I was so into it that I was finished in less then 4 days. Since reading this book, I have purchased every book that she has out, including her re-released books like Manhunt. I am on the 5th book now and can't stop. It takes me a little longer to finish them now, working and living on my own really doesn't give me much time to read, but when I start reading I have to fall asleep before I will put the book down. I love Janet Evanovich and can't wait for all her new books to come to stores.Read full review
One For The Money was Janet Evanovich's first book... the first of the Stephanie Plum series. These are fast reads. You will blow right through the book. It is so funny, you will find yourself busting out laughing. Stephanie Plum, the lead character is a young woman in the heart of New Jersey. She's out of work and finds herself working for a bail bondsman... hunting down those that have jumped bond. As a bounty hunter... she is just too funny. Be sure to read these books in the order written. You will love this author... I guarantee it!!
