Some really great recipes in this book! I am new to the cooking-in-mass craze that apparently is very popular, so I bought this book for an introduction. I was initially skeptical of the homemade spaghetti sauce after years of buying from the store. But I made it last night and there is no comparison- I will never buy premade again. I also made the Mrs.Ringle's Brisket- doubted the mustard and onion soup mix combo, but you will not be disappointed. I am so eager to try out other recipes now and today is my first "day of cooking". The house smells so wonderful. So if you are new to this cooking idea, I say go ahead and try this book out. It has meal plan lists, along with grocery requirements and how to plan/complete your cooking day. I am starting out small with 1 week made today with the recipes that sounded best (planned on moving up to the big leagues once I get the feel for it), maybe you will want to do the same. Anyway, the recipes are great and my kids will not stick their noses up at them. I have read comments that the recipes are not healthy, just because some things are pre-packaged like soup mixes and such. Oh well! They taste great and are a definite step up from the junk you would be buying at a fast food restaurant. Plus, I benefit knowing that my family gets homemade meals- without me going crazy over dinner and dishes every night. I only gave it 4/5 stars because I found a website that does the same thing (without a subscription or cost). They alternate the monthly menus with new recipes and I find it very easy. Although, having the book in hand is a definite plus. if interested, check out :www.onceamonthmom.com >I honestly have no vested interest in this site and didn't get anything out of typing that email address, it is just a reference for those out there who are like me and want to find more great once a month cooking recipes. Good luck!Read full review
