I own a few of these stands, and they're generally built pretty well. The picture is a bit misleading as it shows these stands with a counter weight, but there isn't one. Instead, there's a grip on the end that is not removable. If you load up the opposite end, the stand tends to lean over towards the heavier side (not too much). A straight-up mic and spit guard will not cause the stand to tilt. A counter weight will work, but will have to be attached after the grip. I have a few of this type of On Stage stand with a counterweight, but they are a different model and have an extra projection piece that extends them a bit further than this Heavy Duty Euro stand. The counter weights on these other stands are removable, so you can place a heavier weight in the same area.

The heavy stand allows you to extend mic further without the tipping. Good price for such a well made stand. Spend a few bucks more and avoid those lighter stands.
