With an effective reach of 45mm equiv for APS-C crop sensor bodies such as Canon 550D T2i consider making this prime standard pancake lens your daily carry. Manual focus is firm, well damped. Where the rugged durability of an all alloy barrel is required Zuiko Auto-W make top choices for easy carry primes. . High contrast IQ and close focus capable. Priced well below its sister 24mm/2.8, do not hesitate to give it a go for dslr video or nature. Zuiko 3.5's may be less glass but they definitely make no compromise to legendary OM Zuiko quality.
I am new to using vintage lenses on my Canon DSLR's. However, I've learned that the Olympus Zuiko lenses are highly sought after for good reason. The 28mm f3.5 I recently purchased is amazing! I only wished I had purchased a f2.8 instead. The 3.5 is a little slow for low light photography, but this lens will do very well in good light.
A classic Zuiko. Like all OM Zuiko primes, this one is well-made and marvelously small. It's speed is slower, and offered as an affordable alternative to f/2.8 and f/2 models. Unless you require the extra speed, you give up nothing with this model in rendering images. Tack sharp, depth, edge-wide sharpness, Olympus color and contrast. Still affordable too. I thinks it's better than the Nikkor 28 f/3.5 and Konica Hexanon AR 28 f/3.5 5 element in 5 groups model. Will soon compare it to the Minolta MC Rokkor-HG 28 f/3.5. For now, it's the best buy for the f/3.5 class of 28mm wide angles. (Reviewed on Sony APS-C)
I use this lens with Olympus OM-D camera. My opinium is that I cannot get as good sharpness as with Olympus Zuiko OM 50 mm lenses.
