Although the book is well written, you'd need to have a particular interest in the history of the First National Bank in Houston. The bank building is one of the first multi-story commercial buildings built on Main Street In downtown Houston at the turn of the last century. The architecture has withstood the test of time over the past 100 year and the building is still quite attractive. The lobby and first two floors have been converted to one of the city's premier locations for upscale receptions, parties and socialite fundraisers & the remaining 5 floors remodeled into classic loft style condos. The lofts feature 14' exposed beam ceilings and unfaced brick walls with the origin 6' tall double hung wooden windows. If you have family connections with any of the bank's founders or have a particular interest in architectural history of the Bayou City, this book is a great resource. I bought it because we moved to one of the lofts last spring when we sold our house in the Houston suburbs and downsized to downtown.Read full review
