EIE PRO | Reaper - Tracking Clean Sound @ 96kHz 32bits http://community.akaipro.com/akai_professional/topics/eie-pro-reaper-tracking-clean-sound-96khz-32bits Hard to understand how to use gear. Akai needs to get there act in gear!! Found out how to record all 4 inputs of this beast @ 96 kHz 32 bits with Reaper (475 Install | latest) software. Master w/ Adobe Audition 3.01 Software. Added MP3 clips of EIEPro only. Layla echAudio PCI Mp3 only. Test A |B of EIE PRo agains the Layla 3G. Read what I've done. You get very low latency / small buffer size with EIE Pro. Great sound. It's challenging to use but I think worth it. Just one man's opinion. Best of Luck!!
The Akai EIE Pro is a fantastic interface if it works for you & it works flawlessly for me. Most all of the negative reviews on this product or from people having difficulty getting it to work on the latest Mac OS or Win 8 or USB 3. due to driver problems (or possibly user config problems). Very few reports of problems with Win 7 & most if not all of them solvable with proper OS configuration. I'm on Win 7 64bit & on a Lenovo laptop Intel I3 processor & when I 1st hooked this thing up it could not record or playback without severe pops & glitches in Samplitude or Reaper. All I had to do to solve it was disable the laptops internal sound card in the control panel "sound" settings as evidently the drivers were conflicting with each other. Very simple few clicks of the mouse. It has since worked flawlessly recording 4 tracks simultaneously at 24/96 & with flawless simultaneous playback/record. The sound quality is excellent. The preamps are very clean & low noise. Pretty much what goes in is what comes out. Definitely professional production quality. 2 of the things that really attracted me to this is the post preamp inserts on all 4 channels & the line/instrumen/mic input select for all 4 channels. I've not seen any other product in this range with that unique & useful feature set. The inserts will be handy for inserting limiters to prevent clipping the A/D converters especially when recording drums or any performances really. It sucks when an otherwise perfectly good take is ruined by the nasty sound of A/D converters hitting a brick wall. Look around & there are some insane bargain prices surfacing on these things. I grabbed mine brand new un-opened for $99...!!! There is nothing on the market selling at twice to thrice that price I would trade it for. Love it's form factor & foot print also.Read full review
1st off I have to admit an initial case of buyers remorse after first purchasing the EIE Pro. I had already committed to my purchase when I went to YouTube and found all the complaints and negative comments... The unit was en-route and I couldn't cancel the deal.... What luck! I've just begun setting up and decided to use the Reaper DAW for editing and production (love it's features and price... great price), and as soon as the EIE arrived I thought great! just plug and play... It didn't quite work out that way. No matter what I tried I couldn't get Reaper to recognize my Korg Legacy VSI's... tried new drivers and everything I could think of... it saw my Applied Acoustics and other synths but not the Korg. Out of desperation I dreamed up a work around that relied on the EIE and it worked. I was able to operate the Korg stuff as stand alone, so I 1st loaded the Korg module I wanted and then brought up Reaper. I then ran a set of leads from the EIE main output by using a spliter on each and plugged them into the EIE's number 3 and 4 inputs. I created a new track in Reaper and assigned its inputs to the EIE 3 and 4. As such I am using the EIE for both an input to my DAW and an output from my Korg module and DAW simultaneously. While I'm sure I might be adding some latency it really isn't evident in function. I'm able to play along with the DAW while still laying down the new track. Being a novice I'm not sure if all interface's could do such a thing but I know this EIE Pro is. It really seems quite versatile and simple to use.... I really do like it and haven't found any problems as mentioned on the web. In retrospect I could have probably nixed the splitters and just come off the EIE's # 3 and 4 outputs... but hey, it just leaves me more open to other out's now. All said, I would feel confident in saying that you couldn't go wrong with this interface for the price.Read full review
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This thing is amazing so far, love all the inputs and outputs, it has it's own power supply ( which is great ) the extra usb ports come in handy for sure ! If you can get a deal on this get it !
Works great! I'm very pleased with the look, feel, and functionality of this unit. It was no problem to set up; working properly without a hitch from the start. I used an Edirol UA-25EX for years and loved it but I needed the ability to record more tracks. This will record 4 separate tracks simultaneously. I have no complaints and highly recommend the EIE Pro.
