I had a clone of this unit, but I replaced it with an Oregon sharpener. There is no comparison. The Oregon is well made, with good features, and a strong motor that will not stall when sharpening. The Oregon also has a chain clamp that centers the chain for sharpening.

I only recommend it to those who need to sharpen a lot of chain. It does work, with a bunch of fussin around. I expected much higher quality for the money. The middle of the unit has flex to it when you get to the stop. If you don't tighten the swivel base down with a huge amount of torque it will slip when you go to tighten the chain lock. I had to debur the chain guide because the chains kept getting hung up when pulling them to the next tooth to be sharpened. The swivel for horizontal angle is made very sloppy. When you go from one side of the chain to the other it will take more off from one side than the other, requiring adjustment every time you switch sides. And last it has a super cheesey handle. Made in Italy, but I was beginning to think it was made in China.....

Guys this was the best price I have found for the Oregon 520 grinder.......take time to set the grinder up CORRECTLY!!!..... once you have it set up take time to learn how to CORRECTLY use the grinder..... once you learn how to set the right depth and cutter angles, slowly practice, don't rush.....when you grind the teeth use a tap-tap-tap method.... DO NOT just slam the wheel into the tooth, this will ruin the cutter!!!!! Guys once get this Oregon 520 set-up and going, you WILL turn out some chains that will cut with ANY factory chain made!!!!! No grinder will compensate for stupidity, so use just a little common sense and you WILL be very happy with this grinder!!!!

This is an amazing sharpener. I used one in the past at a place of work and knew it to be of good quality. The people who gives it negative, or less than 5 star reviews doesn't know how to set it up or use it. It does a great job in sharpening. I HIGHLY, VERY HIGHLY, recommend this unit.

This must be a rebrand with loose quality control. The motor runs hot quickly and the whole thing feels rickety. I understand it's a basic model, but better bearings and slightly thicker castings should have been used.
