Just bought after Xmas...Bought package with xtra memory card, case, xtra battery, charger, card reader, claening kit, tirpod and so on. Up to this point not many complaints but I have not played with all the features. Small but not too small, good sized LCD screen, many features (hopefully many of them good ones), long battery life, 2 gb card holds like 800 pics in low setting, sharp picture on screen, card reader to download pics is very simple. Only complaint to this point...I read on some reviews somewehere that people complained about "grainyness" (if that is word) on their pics when printed. When I installed their software and printed some pics from it, I did notice the "grainyness" (I am by no means a professional) as well. I then decided to try and print from my software program that I used from my older program and camera and it printed a better picture. So even though the software gives you many features, other program prints a better pic. So I use the olympus software to touch up and then save and then print from other program. But then it could be something I am doing wrong...Read full review
Let me start by saying this is the second Olympus camera I've owned. The first one was the the Stylus 800, it was "my baby" & sadly it was lost forever when a family member accidentally threw away the bag it was in. So this time I went with the Stylus 1010 model, I love it! I can zoom in on the smallest of objects & get superb pics! And I bought it brand new at Sam's Club for a very reasonable price. It's small enough that I can put it in my purse, or my pocket and take it anywhere. It even takes very nice photos from far off in a dimly lit room, just set it to the "Available Light" setting and it uses the light in the room instead of the flash. (Don't try this at home) It can also take some harsh treatment. My 3yr old got hold of mine and decided she was going to wash it in the bath room sink. Now it wasn't just wet, mind you, it was SOAKED. It would not turn on, and I just died when I saw how much water dripped out of it! Well, after my crying fit, I removed the battery & XD card, and unscrewed the back panel and let it sit open on a paper towel for 2 days to dry. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it came right back to life once it was dry! I had fully expected it to be ruined forever! Overall, it is a darn good camera. Downfall - it's not waterproof (duh) and the underwater housing costs almost as much as the camera itself, however if you really want to take underwater pictures, you would probably spend a little more for one that didn't need a housing. I'm just fine with keeping mine high and dry and out of the reach of little hands!Read full review
Like: the price. I got this camera for $125. NewEgg.com had a returned one for $5 more + shipping. That's a good deal on a camera that retails for more than $175 in a lot of places. Close ups of text material are not so hot in less than great light. Its like the camera has trouble focusing on text. I couldn't get it too anyway. The 10.1 mega pixel proves to provide great image quality overall. And the zoom is quite nice on a camera this small and inexpensive.
I love that this camera is excellent quality and small enough to fit in my overfull duaper bag. We have an awesome Nikon camera that we use all the time but I wanted this camera so that I could take it with me everywhere I went with our new baby girl, since you never know when the most adorable thing is going to happen. Our Nikon is a professional camera and is heavy and pretty big and I just can't lug another bag with me everywhere, so this camera is perfect. I haven't printed any pics yet so I don't know about printed pic quality but they pics look great on teh camera and I am a horrible photographer. It also doesn't hurt that it is purple, my favorite color!!
7x optical zoom + image stabilizer = great candid shots. With the many scene choices there is a lot of flexibility with this camera. About the size of a credit card, it's easy to slip in the pocket/purse and handy all the time. I had the camera nearly 2 weeks before I had to recharge the battery. With the specialized adapter, I can use a 4GB micro SD card and get thousands of low resolution shots. I love the little camera, and will really get a lot of use out of it. Good choice for a slightly experienced photog.
