This is a very stout amplifier. I have two of them one of which I just purchased and another one I bought new. The first one has been in several different cars and still performs flawlessly. I have never run it below 4 ohms, but, I see no reason why it would be a problem. It will produce a large amount of power below 4 ohms and has a heat sink large enough to handle it. Why would I buy a plus 20 year old amplifier? Simple; signal to noise ratio. These old amps do not have digital high frequency power supplies and in my opinion have far superior S/N compared to the newer digital amplifiers. I have had early digital amps interfere with radio reception, however, newer ones do not seem to have this issue. It is LARGE. IT does a more than adequate job driving 6.5 inch midwoofers. I do recommend an outboard subsonic filter as these amps will reproduce very low frequencies which can damage some smaller speakers. Also be cautious plugging in and removing the remote turn on connector. I have had to do minor soldering repairs on both mine due to failure of the solder joint. If you are cautious this is not a big deal and the repair is very easy. If I find another for a good price I will buy it too.Read full review
