This was a gift for my wife for Christmas to replace a Mr. Coffee. Because KitchenAid is such a highly regarded brand name, and the cost for this product was 4 times more than a Mr. Coffee was were expecting a great product making great coffee. Unfortunately, this coffee maker leaves grounds in the pot, every single time. We have tried different filters, different coffee, different brewing times, with and without the micro basket. it does not make a difference. We are gonna put this $100.00 KitchenAid on the shelf, and go buy a $25.00 Mr. Coffee that will not disappoint us.

I could live with the fact it took an hour to decipher instructions for setting this machine up. But the coffee taste was far short of what I hoped for- mediocre at best. The worst feature on this machine is that it is designed with a hole at the bottom of the water holding tank- any water that spills into it from motion used to set the water tank in place, or even moving the machine once you have water in it means the water drains out of this hole. Took me a few times brewing and finding water all over the counter to figure it out. Idiotic design.

I like that this coffemaker can brew 14 cups. Since mugs hold much more than 5 ounces which is a standard "cup" I have the ability to serve more people with one pot of coffee. The only thing I'm not too crazy about with this machine is that the clock, timer and brew strength are not easy to set. Took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to do it right and I'm pretty good at that sort of thing as a rule. The removable water chamber is very handy and the wire filter is a nice addition but in my experience if you make 14 cups of coffee paper filters must be used because you can't put enough ground coffee in the metal filter especially if you like your coffee strong. It does brew very quickly and is easy to clean. I'm glad I purchased it.

Let me first say I am very picky about my coffee maker. I am very picky about my coffee also...to the point that I roast my own coffee beans. The KitchenAid coffee maker has several features which makes it one of the best...if not THE best coffee maker I have purchased...features include...removable and washable water resevoir....a 1-4 cup mode....a bold brew or normal brew selection....programmable auto shut off time...if you want it to shut off after 30 mins...it will. And my favorite feature...a burner plate temperature setting...I find most coffee makers with burner plates keep..or "cook" the coffee at too high a temperature...this one allows me to lower the temp from high to medium which is perfect for keeping coffee in the pot for a while and not cooking it. Just a great coffee maker and well thought out. I could not have done it better if I had designed it myself. Hats off to KitchenAid for the architect model coffee maker!Read full review
I liked the appearance of this machine & when I got it, I loved the appearance & the lower profile as well. It was easy to set up for automatic brewing & easy to just brew a pot. I enjoy the fact that the water reservoir is removable, & so easy to fill, & face it, getting rid of those cone filters & using the flat bottom ones, makes it easy to add the grounds to the filter before inserting into the basket. I like my coffee bold, & it delivers.......This is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned....Bar none!
