If you are looking for a midi controller that will play several different formats simultaneously without much issue, you should consider the Numark Mixdeck Quad. On the plus side, you can not only connect as a midi controller easily with Virtual DJ Pro, you can also mix in traditional CD's, "most" burnt Mp3 Cd's and.... "most" tracks from a traditional 32GB flash drive. I use the word "most" loosely because in typical Numark fashion, not "all" formats can, or will 'read'. So be sure you have your ducks in a row before you go out to do an event with this monster, or you could be in trouble. Also, it's big, heavy... but pretty decently built. If you are going to 'gig' with this, you MUST consider a 'wheeled' rack for this controller as well, and if you plan on using it as a midi controller get the rack with the sliding shelf. Pro X makes several great cases, just be sure you spend the extra for the one with the 'better' wheels. You back will thank you. My biggest complaint with this (now discontinued) device, again in typical Numark fashion, the buttons will wear quickly leaving it looked "used" very soon after you get the hang of it. Also before you buy be sure you ask the seller what the "manufacture" date is (listed on the bottom). The older it is, the more problems you might have with it reading some media formats. And... at some point... the cue channel buttons will... break.. fall down inside the device.. and then you use it for parts as Numark doesn't offer those yet. Once someone "3d prints' them then maybe more life can be breathed into them. Other thoughts. I have used "Numark" gear since the 1980's. I choose Numark because of the price point vs the features vs how quickly the technology changes vs how much things cost at the time. Numark generally offers big bang for the buck, and if you are like me (a full time mobile DJ) then you generally upgrade often. This gives you the opportunity to 'buy something in the middle' rather than "the high end" gear (Rane, Pioneer, Etc) and still be able to present / represent well. I make it a rule of thumb to upgrade every three years, if I need to, or not. I have has such good luck with the Numark Mixdeck Quad that I own several of them. When new (2011 / $899ish) I bought two, one for main and one for back up. When they discontinued it (2015) you could buy a leftover for $499. I bought two more. Since then I have picked up 2 more "slightly used" as I run a multi system company. The only problem I have had so far is mentioned above, the buttons wear quickly, the cue buttons will eventually break. Also have had fadder knobs 'fall off' during transport. A road case is a must, so plan on spending another $200+ for that.Read full review
