this being my first review of a phone, but i thought i might explain my good and bad of this phone. 1st... value for money, this carrier sure does give you ALOT. you cant beat service with any other US carrier and get as much coverage for the price. With straight talk in general, you will experience VERIZON towers on there more basic, and in particular E71 you get 3g in home coverage with at&t, and when out of town area, t-mobile partner voice and text. that works for me! battery is 100% awesome. will last for a couple days on general use. screen is clean and clear, does not make it hard to see what you are doing. all features are nice, programs are limited but OVI store does offer solutions for gadget minded people as myself. it includes options for google maps, google mobile app with voice activation searches, OVI maps with free navigation! "NICE" let me tell you for free!, as well for chat you can use ebuddy or something. facebook app is not on there, but i would use SNAPTU, so much nicer and offers all features as facebook does for free. 200 dollars i think is good, but we are talking NOKIA and its not touch screen, so i think they could drop price a little personally. i like more like 180 for the phone max. ebay is awesome for used phones and good prices. i would look there first. Negative part... you will be on a AT&T tower more than likely. they are known for a few dropped calls, deal with that side of it. its not horrible and i have not personally experienced problems, but does happen. As well a negative side, there call centers are NOT in the USA, so it hard to get ahold of them overall, and you may wait longer than 10-15 minutes before getting a hold of anyone. its makes the service change and support side of... well sort of a pain.Read full review
I bought this to get a whole diffent phone experience than what im used to, and i did. I like to look and feel of the phone although it is a little on the heavy side. Its very sleek and professional looking. I call it a mini computer. Its truly like a small laptop. I am not very high tech when it comes to phones and computers so im sure im wasting a lot of this phone's talent. I like the wi-fi part. I dont know all the small shortcuts yet, and i want to cuz it does take a little long to text someone or get to the area you want to get to cuz its soooo much on this phone. I dont like the small keyboard and numbers to dial. I used to dial faster with a bigger keyboard and its so close together i make mistakes...but im getting used to it...and i guess that is what it takes. Id say if your fast at learning all these high tech things and have small fingers and good eyes ....get it!Read full review
I bought this phone for work purposes so I could access Exchange. After 5 minutes I was sending/receiving emails, doing everything I needed it to do. My only knocks on it are the inability to lock in text messages , assign individual text tones, and lack of some really good apps via the Ovi store. The battery life is awesome. Also, be aware this phone "hits" off AT&T towers, so if they have poor coverage in your area it's not the phone for you. I would recommend it over the Android phones currently offered by Straight Talk, though. Those "hit" over the Sprint network, which is LAME.
OK, so it's not an iPhone, but it gets the job done, and while it's considered a "smart" phone, it's not so smart that you're intimidated by it. This phone is actually my second one (first got washed, never came back) so that alone should say something about it. Texting is fast, once you get used to the keyboard, and the GPS is spot-on, it even does the directions by turn! Not bad for a 2008 phone. Web is OK, works better with Opera on there, camera is serviceable, but doesn't work well in the dark (like most cameras really). Really solid phone, can go 3 days without charging with light use, though 2 days is normal for myself. Reception on the AT&T network is very good (Straight Talk uses AT&T for this phone). I'd happily recommend this phone for someone who is on the go a lot, and needs a way to stay in touch not just via phone, but online.Read full review
Despite this phone being over five years old, that is really old for a smart phone, it is still a very good phone. It is not the fastest phone on the planet. It is not the flashiest phone on the planet. I will say this about this phone, it can do almost anything that I need it to do. I can get my email, check my facebook and talk, text all day and not have to worry about my phone dying on me. Even so, the phone has a removable battery and so if I needed more battery power I would just carry another battery. I know I am speaking quite positively about this "old phone" but I have to say my sister has a new droid phone and she says her old nokia, this particular phone, could do all the things that her new phone does. The only things that I would say about this phone is that it sometimes gets stuck when there are too many texts and cache in the memory and those extra things seem to 'break' the phone and it comes up with 'low memory' warning. This is easily fixed, you simply clear the phone and internet cache and the phone becomes 'happy' again.Like I said it is easy enough, but still it does get annoying. The processor is slow too, but that is just a product of the age of the phone. The phone coverage is really good. It is a quad band phone so I never had to worry about dropped calls unless I was in a basement, but that would happen to most any phone- so no worries there. All in all this is a great phone and it allows me to save money on my phone bills each and every month by using a pre-paid phone service. For the money saved I can endure a few niggling things that are really nothing more than nuisances.Read full review
