The good: The Nokia 6263 has a simple, user-friendly design, a vivid display, satisfying call quality, and a decent feature set that includes stereo Bluetooth, a music player, and world phone support. The bad: The Nokia 6263's user interface was rather sluggish, and it lacks voice dialing. The middle row of its keypad felt a bit cheap, and the speaker has a sensitive sweet spot. The bottom line: With a solid combination of design, features, and performance, the Nokia 6263 is a worthy successor to the Nokia 6133. It's clear that T-Mobile is up to something. Though it is the only major carrier not to have a 3G network (at least at the time of this writing), that hasn't stopped it from adding 3G-capable phones to its lineup. First, it was the Samsung SGH-T369, and now it's the new Nokia 6263. What's more, while T-Mobile also is the only carrier to lack a music downloading service, it's still gone ahead and introduced a couple of music-themed handsets. First was the Samsung Beat SGH-T539, and now it's (you guessed it) the Nokia 6263. Though it somewhat resembles T-Mobile's earlier Nokia 6133, the 6263 adds dedicated music controls, stereo Bluetooth, and the aforementioned 3G capability. The functional design remains minimalist but appealing, and the call quality is satisfactory. We noticed, however, that the 6263's Series 40 user interface was the slightest bit slow. The 6263 is a reasonable $209 if you pay full price, but you can get it for a reasonable $79 with service.Read full review
I used to own and love my old 6133 and this phone being its replacement, I had high expectations. I love how nokia arranges its texting and the bigger keys make it too easy to text while doing things you shouldn't at the same time such as driving and working. So many things are customizable including ringtones, camera settings, groups and the music player. Surfing the web is great and while this is no blackberry, it does it's thing and checking email is a breeze. However, while its amazing in many ways, a few things leave me a touch dissapointed. Being a working student with Polish folk dancing as a hobby, many days I leave the house at 7am, and come home at 11pm. Sadly, somedays my battery can't last out the entire day of texting, calling, web browsing. Playing music is just asking for a battery spanking. On the flip side, using a bluetooth headset really helps with battery life and turning off vibrate by really customizing your profiles help with the battery, extremely. For being a modernish flip phone, its terrific and i love it but there's plenty of room for improvement. Still, four stars.Read full review
Easy and simple to figure out. This phone has just the essentials I needed. It's construction and quality of is as I had expected from Nokia. I owned two other Nokia's before and Samsung, and Motorola. This model surpasses those for the price. Cons: The battery and Sim card cover on back is kind of hard to remove. I expected a longer standing still battery life for this model, so I have to rate this as just average. Lettering on front screen is a bit small for my old eyes, but tolorable. Overall: Great phone for the price. Highly recommend this model!
The phone arrived withnin a few days and was just as described. I like the controls for the audio plyer on the front of the phone. The software has very minor issues and the ear piece is not the best but they are easy to workaround. For example, certain menu options don't use a backup key or 'return to the previous menu key'. Otherwise it works well and I love the features. MP3 player, video player, Radio along with Memory(up to 4gb).
RATING DOWNGRADE When I first wrote this review I rated this phone "Excellent". I've had to reduce this to "below average" based on reliability issues. About 75% of the 6263 devices I've run into that had more than 100 hours on them seem to develop serious electrical issues. My initial review was based on my experience with fairly new devices. This model does not age well. I have had more warranty return and failure issues with average used examples than with any other single model I've ever handled. I no longer handle these as a service to my customers. If you can find a near new or new example expect to get about a year out of it and then expect trouble. The most frequent issue has been "white screen"; volume key issues come in second. After using, buying and selling over three dozen Nokia 6133 handsets in a 15 month period I found them to be pretty decent. But despite being reliable and very functional they were lacking in ways that were made obvious by the advent of more full featured devices such as the N75. Nokia took those extra features, squeezed them a bit and put them in a package that has about the same hand feel as the 6133. Features such as? you might ask. ‘ External music player controls ‘ UMTS 1700/2100 for T-Mobile's T-G high speed network ‘ Format compatible with most music files ‘ MPEG-4 video recording ‘ 30 megabytes of internal memory ‘ Large 2.2 inch diagonal screen ‘ Secondary video call camera ‘ E-mail with attachments ‘ Opera Mini browser ‘ Higher capacity battery All of this in a form factor that is only a tenth of an inch longer and a smidge thicker than the 6133. Okay, so we had to give up the very cool push button flip opener. No more playing "Captain Kirk" with our mobile phones. But the array of improved features is impressive. Physical improvements include losing the Pop-port and gaining the USB connector; losing the Pop-port and using the the Nokia 2.5 mm audio jack. Now we can transfer information and listen to music at the same time. The camera maintains the same pixel density but now you can store your images to a 4 gigabyte microSDHC with Class 4 speed (4 MB per second.) Twice as many images, songs, video clips or whatever can be stored on this device than you could store on the 6133. Because it is a Nokia the signal, voice and other basic mobile phone functions are all there. This has the full range of voice codecs to save battery power or make sure you are heard loud and clear. (Full Rate, Enhanced Full Rate, Adaptive Multi Rate) For anyone who was not wanting to step up to a Symbian based Exx or Nxx Nokia but wanted an easy transition from their 6133, 6103 or similar Nokia for T-Mobile flip phone this will provide that. The learning curve will be flat and the rewards will be rich.Read full review
