I had this phone and used it with not too many problems. Then I would be using it and it would just shut off. Also, I would be using it in a spot where I always had service, and now I have no service. I email TracFone, there response everytime is exactly the same. Always telling me that there must be a large body of water, a mountain, trees....Don't think any of that just happened. It got to the point I couldn't use it at all. Try calling them, you get somebody you can't even understand because of their accent. Terrible customer service!! I asked that the letters be passed onto somebody in charge, nothing. I was stranded more than once and I could not call for help...no service. I gave it to my daughter as I inherited a Virgin Mobile phone. Now she has the exact same problems. Save yourself the grief from the start. Do not deal with them. If you ever have to deal with their customer service department, you will know what I mean. I'm not sure they know what that word means. PS...no problems with the Virgin Mobile phone....Read full review
When I first got this phone I wanted an upgrade from the OLD OLD OLD phone I owned before. It was a green phone with a really big phone with a small screen. I got this because I wanted a bigger screen, and at the time this was the option. I had Alltel at that time, and then it turned out that my phone would turn off once and awhile. I'd miss calls and it was irritating. Well around that time I took up a new job and the network was on Verizon. Being I liked this phone before as a personal option before all of the shut offs, I decided I would get this AGAIN AGAIN, and it was OK as the last one, but I felt (and it did) the battery always went away, and then to the point it wouldn't charge. Well do you guys remember the trusty old Nokia that I had alltel with?? I used parts (battery which was of a bigger capacity) and used the Verizon back on again. It was amazingly durable too. I even got it wet once and it worked fine afterwards. It is a good phone, but I wouldn't go back to it now as I need more options. You could probably get it for an older person that doesn't need tech much, but I doRead full review
The actual TracFone phone is just so-so; but the service that the company provides is absolutely HORRIBLE!! I can honestly say that of all the companies I have ever dealt with - and I have dealt with many - these people are by far the worst I have ever seen in what they refer to as "customer service". To think you can get by without using their customer service is foolish - it can't be done - and once you have to use them - you will want to see your Dr. immediately to check your blood pressure. It is unbelievable that a major company of this size and charging the rates they do - can continue in business with the customer service they have!
I have been in recent contact with TracFone and they tell me that they have no plans to discontinue support of this phone. I will keep it on the top 1 year service plan until notified differently. I like that it is big enough to be easily found in my purse. I call it my big black monster. I have tried the newer, smaller even the flip top models and always end up going back to the BBM. The only problem I had was finding a case large enough to hold it. Finally found one for at a $1 Store.
