I use a nikon d5500 the lens works as a manual focus only. All the functions work except the focus. You will need to practice a lot with this lens if you have a crop sensor camera to find the sweet spot with focus. Using live view mode in camera helps to get the focus right at large apertures. I think for the price I can use this lens for taking pictures at f1.8 -3.5 after which I can use the regular kit lens

I love to take photos of my grandchildren, and the kit lenses that come with my Nikon D90 just were not producing the quality that I wanted. It isn't that they're not great lens too, but they just were not fast enough (f4.0-5.6). With this lens at f1.8 you can get great indoor shots even at iso200 and without a flash. And when you snap a close up shot of your special person, the background, no matter what it is, becomes nothing more than a beautiful blur(brokoh) that does not distract from you main subject. The focal plane is tack sharp, but 3 inches forward or back is already leaving focus. I have used this lens to shoot a few products and it worked very well for that. The images are extremely sharp and true in color. I truly enjoy using this lens. It's light weight, small in stature making it easy to carry and with just a little practice on my part, it takes the best photos I have taken to date. I would definitely recommend this lens to everyone, especially those on a budget, looking to upgrade from their kit lenses. You won't be disappointed!Read full review
This is a nice lens to have on hand for any Nikon user. It is a genuine Nikon Nikkor product, with all that that includes. Make sure you get one that is clean inside and out, with a well operating shutter and focus, and you'll enjoy having it around for a long time. Be sure to check out the camera lens compatibility sites online if you need autofocus to work, as many of the basic models do not have a focus motor to operate this. You can still use it in manual mode and get great results as many have already said.

This lens has an amazing f1.8 aperture, works well for portraits and in low light conditions. Love the clean look this lens gives to my photos. The auto focus is slow but since it's not a lens for sport or wildlife photography I don't see that as a deal breaker. Shipped fast and arrived in time by ContinentalPhoto ( 94684 ) excellent seller!

What can I say to do this lens justice? It is the best lens I have ever used. I absolutely love this lens, and I have been using it as my prime lens for the past 2 weeks. Sure, it takes some getting used to, especially when shooting subjects that are too close. But, take a few steps back, set the focus on the subject, and voila! Beautiful portraits with awesome bokeh can now be yours. I have been using this lens on my Nikon D5100, and it has replaced my 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses. There are times when the zoom would be useful, but I have found that I can usually walk towards the subject, if need be. But really, you can't beat the f/1.8G .... it is freaklishly fast. I got this lens at Beach Camera for $180 with free shipping. Thank you Beach Camera. I'm giving you a shout out because I wasn't sure if I should pull the trigger to buy this lens, but your price was just right. Knowing what I now know about this lens, I would surely pay the $220 list price to get it. If you have a Nikon, your collection is not complete without this lens.Read full review
