First a little correction: we have the black one and not the silver one. I think the silver one would have been easier to find if left on the lawn at a wedding or something, but the black one looks cooler. And I can sneak up on paparazzis and take their pictures without permission and get away with it because it's stealthy. Ok, after having owned a number of Olympus, a Sony and a Canon point and shoot cameras, I can confidently say that Nikon S8200 is the best amongst the cameras that I have used regularly. The Pros: Very nice pictures. Very nice video; Takes pictures in the dark with no flash when the camera is held steady (I don't know how they did that with CMOS sensor); 16.1 MP and 14Xzoom mean poster size scenery within reach; The battery last a long time when taking many 3MB pictures; Battery is rechargeable. The Cons: The battery is unique to Nikon; I had to read the manual to turn off the flash; Does not come with extra batteries and car charger; For that matter, it does not make me breakfast in bed. I realize now that Nikon's are more expensive because it is better.Read full review
The camera is great, features, size, battery life, picture nquality, everything about it. The shipping was super fast.
I'm still new to digital cameras so I have a lot to learn but I am impressed. My last camera was a standard Nikon 200 or 2000(25 years ago), costing a little more than this digital model, so I am delighted to have so many options. It does seem that digitals are cursed with pictures being a bit slower than film cameras, but I guess there is a way around that. It doesn't seem to focus as close as I would like but perhaps there is way around that, too. Anyway, it's a good unit.
This is a great little camera. The photo quality is excellent. It is user-friendly enough for my 8 year old grandson to figure out all of the features and use them. It can be difficult to hold as there is very little to hold on to but on a tripod it is fantastic.
Had one for years and liked it a lot, so this is a replacement. I wish it had a stronger zoom and a viewfinder, but I knew what I was getting when I bought this one, so I'm happy with it.
