Shortly after using it at Thanksgiving the lens kept going back in, second the message"batteries exhausted" comes on even with new batteries. Haven't used it that much yet. However, this evening was very important same problem over and over. No thanks!! Will call AMEX tomorrow. The plan I purchased would be of no use, this camera should have never been listed or shipped.

I bought this camera because I wanted a portable DSLR with high zoom capability without a need to buy a separate lens (thanks to my wife who threw away my older Canon PowerShot I cherished without knowing the camera happened to be in a container she assumed to be garbage). This camera from Nikon brings about most of the features in my wish list and more. I especially like the high contrast B/W picture mode that provides very impressive B/W images, as well as face detection mode that automatically focus on subject's face. Other pros include use of AA batteries so that you can grab the batteries at home or anywhere you can find a mart away from your home and the vibrant body color(personal taste). There are many different picture modes you can enjoy but are not counted as pros as including those are the norm for digital cameras these days. Cons include glossy coating that easily attracts dust and scratches, lens cover that you most of the time forget to remove before taking picture(maybe this is due to the fact the camera has long zoom so it's difficult to embed automatic lens cover in front of the lens), less than effective auto focus(you need to adjust or turn off some of the automatic options or the focusing will drive you nuts. This is especially true you want to focus on small object from relatively short distance). Some may feel the body to be a little flimsy as well. Overall, I'd recommend this camera if you are not afraid of making scratches, collecting dirt, or imprinting fingerprints on the camera body. For me, this camera meets the need and purpose. If you look around, this camera can be found at bargain prices now which will add to the plus side.Read full review
i love this camera! The pictures are outstanding. The different features are great, the sports mode is incredible! The only problem I found was that this model does not have a viewfinder. I have always used a viewfinder for outdoor action photos and will this this.
