After suffering through several summers without AC in our living room we finally decided to get a portable one. We decided to get this model because it had great reviews from other sites. We've had it a month and so far we are pretty happy with it. It works really well as an AC unit and fan. Delivery was also super fast and we were happy it came with a window unit extension because we have an extra large window in our room. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because when we first installed it, it made everything near it vibrate and it was a little loud. We had to put cardboard under it to dampen the vibration but it's because we have hardwood floors and our living room is small. If we had a bigger room and if we could have put the AC not so close to the furniture, I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem. Also, we because the AC is so powerful, we blew a couple fuses while running the AC with the vacuum and once with just the TV. We live in a much older house so make sure that the amperage allowed in the room is compatible with the AC unit and the other stuff you want to run in that room. Other than that, the AC unit does a great job cooling down the room and even nearby rooms is a great alternative if you do not have central air in your place.Read full review
I have a south-facing living room 25' X 14' that gets a lot of beating sun. On hot days interior temps get to as high as 90, even with windows open and fans going. I also have verticle sliding windows so I can't use a window conditioner in this rental property. This unit cools the space to a comfortable 74` without a lot of noise. I vent it through the dining room window [ although I had to extend the plastic window vent piece by adding foam and taping it all down because the extension wasn't tall enough to fit the window]. The unit is small enough to hide behind my couch's side table, though cosmetically it doesn't need to be hidden-it is attractive. I have not had to empty the resevoir yet and have run it several time over the last month--all day. It seems to function well and am very satisfied with my purchse to this point. I would be able to easily move it to my bedroom if it were necessary. Easy to set up and use, easy to move [but not up stairs, if you are an elderly female!]Read full review
I bought this air conditioner for the simple reason, that my replacement windows are not wide enough to get a window unit big enough (7-10 BTU) in my window. This unit has a great window installation kit, that makes it easy to install. Not only that but you can move unit( its on wheels) where YOU want it! You aren't stuck with it blocking your window! Just remember to read the install. instructions. This unit cools my downstairs of my 2 story house, but I bought another, just because of all the doorways and french doors ect... But all in all I have basic cenral air without the cost or inconvenence.
I researched this product before purchasing, and I have to say this exceeded my expectations. Our basement and adjoining hall are quite large and open ,but this unit is able to cool it down, keep humidity at bay, and is REALLY cold when you walk in front of it. My husband and I set up a way to install in a Pella side window with the attached vent, and can still close and seal window when not in use. It appeared this was the best unit to purchase from my research, and so far we are extremely pleased, as we spend a lot of time in this area.
Unit it NOISY and barely cools, there is hardly any difference in air temperature between COOL (even at maximum) and FAN. It sounds like being next to a jet engine, I can't even hear my stereo above it. I wish I had done my research, an online search (eg Amazon) confirms my experience is not unique. Not a fault of this seller's, but they should not be offering inferior products like this for sale. I bought it because it has a smaller footprint than other portable a/c's, but a small window unit of much fewer BTU's is doing a better job of coolng than this.
