A lot has changed since 1996 re "Dressing for Success". Example: 2016 The first woman to successfully campaign & be nominated by a major political party, wore pantsuits as her signature outfit. She wore a variety of colors & styles. While personally I thought those outfits detracted from the position she aspired to they didn't appear to be an obstacle for many other people. Most disappointing & fundamental was the book narrowly defined women's "successful workplace" as corporate America. I wish it had a wider audience......lawyers, small business owners etc. For example would a traditional grey suit be the more successful outfit for a woman designing, owning and selling Retro Vintage Clothes in a small, trendy boutique NYC? The research part re color etc made for an interesting read. Just wish the book had been updated to meet the needs of successful women in a variety of fields beyond corporate America.Read full review

New Woman's Dress for Success was a holiday gift for a friend's daughter who just turned eighteen. I liked the Men's which I bought for my two sons when they turned eighteen, thus I wanted the female version for her.
Molloy provides excellent advice based on hardcore research. There are examples of combinations that are successful in a variety of situations depending on what you are trying to achieve. Essential to any women in the workplace!
