Why I bought it: I was choosing a phone for myself. First I was almost sure about buying Sony Xperia S. But then I found this one. And by all the differences it is much more attractive. It's best in it's price range and qualities. No alternatives. And it's Sony - the brand you can be sure about. What I like most about it: Design & style. It's waterproof. Has a factory glued protecting screen from the box. Supports extra memory card. Has a charging dock station. Good enough in playing almost all kind of simple and cool 3D graphic games. Nice camera. Comfortable to use. Performs almost everything I need. What I dislike about it: Battery time, some lags and bugs (but it's almost every android-phone's problem, not depending on a brand). This was my first purchase of the phone. It was a hard decision. But I'm glad I made it. It's so worth the money. I'm happy with it. In future if there is a financial possibility, I would love to replace it with a new similar Sony product. Not trying to troll or offend anyone but just a personal opinion: Apple products are great but overpriced. Samsung is fine but often has defects. HTC - I don't like the design. Nokia had great phones in old times, now maybe just Lumia 920 will be a good product. Other brands had been lost in time...Read full review
I purchased this phone as an upgrade from my ageing Motorola Defy, due to poor performance and lack of updates on the Defy. The Defy was mid-range at best, whereas the Acro S almost keeps up with the current top end devices. In terms of performance, I have been consistently impressed. It can play back 720p MKV files without any noticeable delay or dropped frames. The battery life is easily on par with the Defy, though you do have to reduce the brightness a bit - not that this is a concern, as at 100% brightness it's almost *too* bright. Viewing angles are similarly impressive, and the fact that it's a 4.3” HD (i.e. 1280 x 720) display means that text is incredibly sharp. It works out at ~342ppi, which is pretty much as dense as you can get. I've actually found myself reading books on it rather than grabbing my Kindle, because while the text is just as clear, the backlight means I can read in the dark. It has NFC, but I've not yet had a reason to try it out. It's also PlayStation Mobile certified, which should increase the potential for gaming; Sony recently announced that they would be releasing the first batch of games on the 3rd of October, though no launch titles were named in their PR. The charging dock is something that every phone should come with, but it's especially welcome here as it means you don't have to keep opening the flap at the top to charge the phone. With decent bluetooth stereo headphones now available, you can conceivably leave all of the flaps closed once you've installed your SIM and MicroSD cards. This should reduce the risk of one of the flaps being accidentally pulled off. Overall I am very impressed with the Acro S. I just wish I had waited until it became available in the UK ; I paid more than £100 over the UK price to get mine, as I had assumed it wasn’t going to be released here. Other than my own impatience resulting in me paying over the odds for one, I can’t think of any real downsides. It would have been nice if the dock offered video output, but I suspect that would be difficult to do while retaining the IP57 waterproof rating. For £350, it’s a bargain in my opinion, and I am still surprised that so few people seem to be interested in it!Read full review
The Sony Xperia Acro S is an outstanding smartphone demonstrating how solid should be the modern gadget: it's body is pleasing and comfortable to hold and doesn't collect too many fingerprints, the display is sharp and nice to watch with soft colors and good contrast, the camera can replace didgital camera. The actual version of OS Android makes the smartphone fluid and responsive for daily use without frustrating lags. Water and dusk protection make it very practical for any situation, no more smartphones can benefit from hi-end characteristics and capabilities for every life's turn.
This phone is great. The only thing that i am disappointed in is the screen. It is supposed to be anti scratch screen but after using it a couple of months you can see lots of little scratchs all over the glass. It is very smooth though. I love that about it. Battery life is pretty good. It's a lot better then my last android i had. It would be nice if the screen was amoled then the battery would last much longer. The ear piece speaker went bad on my unit and so after ordering a new speaker and installing it the phone works great.
