Very reasonable prices found on eBay, this is the largest Shimano I use ( this sis the fourth) because I use and like the trigger-finger casting gizmo all the time. I use this reel across a range of rods so I can go lightweight to heavy-duty rigs without the task of changing out lines on each one of them as a day's fishing activities change. Also very easy to change lines when essential, by having a couple of extra spools in the box with line already wound and in place: the handy line clips help keep snarls to a minimum.

MY brother and I have been avid fans and users of Shimano reels for at least the last 35 some years. At first they were all Black Aero models. The trigger on each model we have had has been such a pleasure to use and hold up well with yearly maintenance to keep them at their top form. This is a rear drag model, which works easily and well. Quick sudden adjustments to tighten or loosen things up doesn't take long, so you should loose your catch in the process. Very straight forward, easy reel to use, that you'll find it a favorite to use. Attach it to any 6'6" to 7' medium light or medium spinning pole and hang on!

Do not have luxuries like many current models but I do not care this. What I do mind is that it is very well built, is robustly. Very soft to throw lures all day and you can rest assured that nothing will escape if you put a very good yarn and a very good rod. I have reels of other several famous brands and 3 Shimano reels and I'm happy with Shimano. No need to spend hundreds of dollars to have a good reel. With this you have enough quality to get quietly fish of 30 pounds if you know how to use it well. 100% recommended.

I have two friends going to Alaska with me this summer for the first time. Thery have never caught a salmon. I want them to have an awesome time. This reel on the MH 7' spinning rod will make them very happy! I have used one and ease of adjustment of drag is critical. For Less than $20 you have a solid reel that can handle 12 lb test easily and enjoy catching fish. The humpies run between 5 and 7 pounds. With this reel and a MH graphite rod, all you have to remember is to take your time and bring a net....Charlie

I love this reel and own several. I, for one, like the rear drag adjustment. It is easy and natural to me for adjusting while fighting a fish. I like the way the Shimano stops the line at the top of reel for easy handling of the bail and casting. Good reel and a good value.
