Antonio "L.A." Reid & Timbaland engineered & produced this album, and did a fantastic job of making it sound like Michael Jackson was a part of the entire creative process, not just the lyric & vocals. The disc has Michael Jackson's signature sound and groundbreaking riffs ...exactly like the groundbreaking material in both "Thriller" & "Bad" decades before skyrocketed those albums to the top of the charts. This 2-disc set includes a 20-minute DVD of Timbaland & L.A. Reid, along with some other producers, talking about their memories of Michael Jackson, the material they found locked in Michael's vault, and what they did to give it a modern sound ...not really anything critical to have, because the CD includes all 8 tracks in both the original (as found in the vault) and post-produced versions, so there is nothing on the DVD that is not on the CD ...except we get to watch the album's contributors listen to the tracks in a music studio.Read full review
A album of unreleased material by Michael Jackson, done with new music and stuff accompanying it. We seen that before, and it was the not-so great "Michael". Not only is this way better than that, but it sounds like a real unreleased MJ album. Xscape isn't any kind of a masterpiece, but it's better than most of the stuff on the radio today, so it's above average, and worth a listen, if not a purchase. The DVD with the making of things is a fascinating watch, the original recordings and the song "Love Never Felt So Good" in 3 forms here, is a great treat! If you are thinking of buying Xscape, get this version. The extra material is worth the slight extra cost. I am a huge fan and I love hearing something new, and not just another compilation of remixes.
To start, I watched the DVD FIRST, expecting some live performing by MJ. Well, none there, but great interviews with the people who put this collection together, offering insight and stories in regard to the process therein. I recommend watching the DVD first, and then you really enjoy the CD disc! These songs, I believe, culled from 1983 1999, are really nice, and a great tribute to MJ. For me, I put this CD somewhere between Thriller & Blood on the Dance Floor. Enjoy, and R.I.P. MJ ...
This is a great cd , every song is good, my favorite is the duet with Timberlake. I recommend this to any fan of Michael Jackson. RIP MJ
