this remote works great. No programming was necessary. It worked right out of the box, just put the batteries in and started using it. I couldn't ask for an easier fix for my broken remote. I was worried that it wouldn't work for my Roku 2 because it has the extra buttons from the Roku 3 but it was no problem. If you need an easy to use replacement remote, this is the one for you.

There was no where on this listing indicating that this remote was a "line of sight" remote only. Our last remote that came with the roku was one that would work from almost anywhere in the room. I replaced it with this remote thinking I was getting a great deal. But unfortunately the remote really only works if it's being pointed directly at the roku box and only about three feet or less away. My son is disabled and has a hard time getting the remote to work from his wheelchair because it's lower than the box. No where in this auction was the remotes limitations mentioned. Now I have to buy another one. But, it does work... and right out of the box.

Worked great with all my Roku devices (Roku 1 and Streaming Stick). I even bought two so the kids could keep losing them . . . which the 4-year old promptly did. I'm sure it's in the couch somewhere, but I will probably be a frequent shopper of this item. The image doesn't show it, but there's a small cloth loop at the bottom of the remotes which is great for looping a string through and then tying it to the remote caddy. Seriously, it's what we have to do here. ;)
