I ordered this for my Father in law, he lives in the country and was tired of paying $100.00 per month for satellite service. Delivery was quick, and I installed it in less than two hours including a trip to the hardware store. It pulled in 34 channels including the channel he was hoping for. ( We live on the western side of Wisconsin and were forced to watch Minnesota TV) Now he can pick up Packer football from Eau Claire. We'll see how well it hold up, Chinese quality?

I had become tired of paying 165.00 per month satellite tv bills, so I thought I would install a digital antenna in our attic to receive our local channels. After doing some research I thought this antenna seemed like the best option, as it was listed for 150 mile range. I installed it in our giant cavernous attic as high as I could and pointing directly at the Dallas towers from which we live about 55 miles from. Receptions was spotty at best, one second you would get a channel next second you would lose it, as for the remote motor rotation on the antenna to tune it in it's is a joke. Movement from the motor is jerky and way too fast to be of any value when you're trying to fine tune it. So I decided I'll try it on the roof, oh and by the way we live on a hill with really no obstructions to any of the towers. After installing it on our roof we do get better reception but it still suffer loss of channels every now and then for no reason, and remember we are only 55 miles from the towers not 150 miles where I would be surprised if you could get anything. A little side note, we have our rv parked across the yard, with it's aluminum antenna I can receive all the local channels crystal clear, and one side of that antenna is broken off! So I would have to say, no I wouldn't recommend this antenna to a friend. I have a feeling I'll be replacing it within a year, when a gust of wind strips the gears on that little motor and the antenna spins freely on the mast.Read full review

The LAVA HD-2605 is an inexpensive (cheap) antenna and, when you get one that operates properly, provides surprisingly good reception. I'm in the antenna business and I've put in several of these Lavas, so I've seen enough to offer an objective opinion. An unusually high percentage are defective from the box. Some will work marginally. but won't rotate. And some just don't receive at all. I keep one on my truck primarily for people with a low budget and low expectations (rather than just being unable to serve them at all). As I noted, they are cheaply made and I don't anticipate a long life from them. And, as far as dealing with their customer service department, you'd better be prepared for a fight to get any sort of satisfaction should you get a defective unit. My advice is: stay away from this antenna!Read full review

The area map that shows the locations and distances from my house to the TV stations shows I should get good reception for about 4 channels and 3 that probably wouldn't have good signals, and one that had great reception. I can only get one station. The station I get is about 30 miles away. The 4 stations that should come in fairly good are about 90 miles away. This product boast up to 150 miles of reception.

A simple search of the internet will reveal that TV antennas such as this can only pull in clear a signal from about 25 t0 30 miles away. There are some exceptions based on location, but the typical user must accept this limitation. With this in mind, the Lava works quite well and pulls in strong, clear pictures from local stations.
