These HC600's take great pictures. They are relatively expensive. I now have seven of them. They do not do video, The covert IR does not have a great range, but is effective. One can either take a laptop or tablet to the field to see the pictures immediately or just review the cards after returning home. The Lithium batteries last for one season or more, taking thousands of pictures. The one on the tree in my back helped convict two guys that were breaking into houses in our neighborhood. I currently have two of these on the job site where I am having a house built, and It made a great picture of a subcontractor taking part of the materials home with him. But mostly I use them to pattern the deer and locate what part of my property has the big bucks. And on which of the green fields are the turkeys coming to in the spring.Read full review

I run 26 trail cams over a 275 acre preserve. I've used 8 different brands. Each kind has its advantages and disadvantages. Unfortunately, the Reconyx has way more disadvantages than other brands. It is the most difficult to program of ANY of the cameras I use. The most serious problem, though, is that it takes way too many pictures...of nothing! No movement at all...and it just keeps taking pictures! Also...it requires 12 batteries, so is over-sized. Stick with Browning or Bushnell. Some of the other, cheaper ones, are usable. But their pictures are not as clear. Compared to the other cameras I use, the Reconyx is a way overpriced piece of annoyance. I would not recommend it to anyone!!

Any camera that Reconyx makes is well thought out and delivers. These are the best cameras for hunting, security etc. The battery life and trigger response and abilities to take rapid fire images (near video speed) is awesome. I have 5 of these cameras and have never been disappointed in how they perform. The battery life I have been getting is 1 year or more with it set on a pretty high image capture. I highly suggest you invest in a STEEL bear box enclosure with a round cut resistant lock and not purchasing those thin sheet metal enclosures to secure it. These are highly sought after cameras and paying these prices for the best and mounting it to a tree unprotected or with a sheet metal enclosure from theft would be a bad move. I use the SC950 models for perimeter security at my home location and I have them in STEEL enclosures w/ cut proof locks and mounted on steel poles concreted into the ground. I run them 24-7 365 and never had any issues with the cameras for over 4 years. Any mid grade cheapo trail camera you buy lasts about 2 years or so and starts leaking, skipping pics, missing captures, terrible looking images, blank captures, etc. You can't even compare those cameras to a Reconyx. You are paying top prices for top rate equipment that nothing on the market can compare to so, remember that when you pull the trigger for one of those el-cheapos you read about on biased trail camera test sites on the web and are left disgruntled. There's no need for you to vist those sites after I just gave you the skinny on what you really need and should own.Read full review

We own 500 acres in Pa. having trail cameras to monitor our HIT list & see what other bucks are running around is very important, as well as treaspassers they wont even know they just had their pic taken. I own 14 cameras 8 are Reconyx HC600. This camera may cost a little more but trust me it is worth the money & saves frustration on runaway triggers, missed pics of Buck or other game just coming into a small part of the view. These 8 Reconyx HC600 cameras capture shots that my other 6 cams just seem to miss, MADE in the USA. When you call RECONYX (GUESS WHAT?) you speak to a live person right away. Like I said when I pull cards from my Reconyx HC600's I know that every photo it says I have will contain images of GAME or other object. The HC600 is the perfect camera. I am not paid nor rec any product for this review. I am a HAPPY RECONYX owner, watch eBay for GREAT deals on them. Some people have used them 1 year others couple weeks, one thing I will say is when you get a used camera be sure to take it in a dark room ASAP prior to taking it to woods & making sure all of the IR NO GLOWS are lighting up, you will be able to tell the enitre area will light up faint glow, hold camera up & look into it you will be able to tell if all IR's are lighting up RED sometimes used cameras have been abused from the owner..I ran into this 1 time & the seller quickly made it right. The Reconyx is the best game camera I have used up to this point and I have several other brands, use the Lithium batteries and you'll get 14,000 to 15,000 pics before having to change them out. Takes pictures of animals every time, no pictures of grass moving or trees.
