For those of us with some pre-internet equipment, this is far better than hand transcribing. I have a small chronograph to record bullet speeds and do some number crunching. Newer ones use the ubiquitous USB cable to go directly to a laptop. Mine uses an infrared diode as a data output to this printer. The on switch on the printer and a few button presses on the chronograph and I have the data and some calculations like the mean velocity, spread and standard deviation in my hand. These printers are getting old, so look to see if batteries have been left to decay in the battery compartment. Corroded contacts can be repaired or an external power supply may work.

Serious calculator users are a captive audience for Hewlett Packard. They could easily have made an inexpensive trash printer and sold it to us at a inflated price. Instead, they give us a solid, well made tool for use with our solid, well made calculators. The printer uses standard thermal paper, still available as credit card rolls, and standard alkaline batteries. There is a built-in self test, which displays battery level as well. I bought this printer for my wife, along with a HP-28S to help her through college.
My HP printer, that I had for 20+ years, finally expired this year. I found a new one on eBay tha works just as wonderfully as my olde one, in allowing me to print out the code of the programs I had written and the program's results/solutions. I think it is a great printer to go with my old calculator and I was so glad that I was able to find one available on eBay. I look forward to using this one as long as the first one. Thoughtfully gisczar
Very good printer !
