The better EQ on these since the first version makes all the difference in the world. The first version was thin sounding. This is much better. Not like an original Echoplex EP-2 but at least now they are on the map. The new metal surface is much better for slamming the head back and forth for runaway freak outs. I really appreciate that too. And a lid!! Nice! The cons: Why the skimpy little capstan? And why 1/8w resistors and such instead of 1/4w ? Is there sound on sound or no?

For a long time I dreamt of having a tape delay. I read many reviews of the TTE and thought I’d give it a try. It was too fragile to take to gigs, too noisy to use in the studio, and required too much maintenance to keep running properly. On top of that it was very expensive and didn’t sound THAT good to justify all of the hassle. I am a big fan of self oscillation and I thought it sounded terrible on the TTE. I can appreciate what fulltone is trying to do here, and I’m sure it is probably an improvement over the design of the older tape delays, but you would be better off getting a Strymon El Capitan or a Source Audio Nemesis and save money and get something that is quiet and gig-worthy.

I'd heard these on a lot of great players guitar rigs(Keef, Setzer, T bone Burnett,) as well as a lot of studio work, always wanted one. The sound is great. A nice way to get tape onto your ITB recordings and the delay sound is more than a step up from digital. This thing can send you in unexpected sonic directions that you might not plan on. That is a good thing in my book. I'll be hanging on to it. Get one.
Great condition! This has been something I have wanted for a while. Thanks

ITS TRUE THEY ARE EXPENSIVE, BUT THIS IS PRO GEAR. IF YOU WANT TO SOUND LIKE A PRO, YOU NEED PRO GEAR. SOMEONE WROTE THAT THESE ARE FRAIGLE, BUT SO ARE GUITARS, TUBE AMPS, TUBE EVERYTHING. MAINTAINANCE IS EASY, JUST CLEAN THE HEADS AND REPLACE A TUBE IF NECESSARY, AND IF YOU HEAR SOME NOISE, ITS TIME FOR A NEW TAPE. EVEN KEITH RICHARDS OF THE ROLLING STONES USES ONE. NOTHING COMPARES!
